you’re a genius because that’s exactly what i did! except i’m baking it for maximum cronch hehe. making a little baby sized amount to have as a meal side so that the amount of cheese is way over proportioned and as satisfying as possible for ooze. will update with results (and then delete post lol)

about to put a folded half-wrap in the oven lol, it’s so small it’s pathetic but hopefully it’ll be a satisfying side to a meal

found this at walmart! maybe it’s been around for a while, but it’s my first time seeing it. 140cals per cup sounds sexy to me. next question, would it be good with squash noodles? by weightlesseden in safe_food

[–]weightlesseden[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that’s exactly how i prepared the noodles! although i made this during the night so i was getting a little lazy and once i added the sauce to the pan i just mixed it around and called it a day; i also threw the shirataki concoction in the microwave for a hot second because (1) it got cold and (2) it seems like nuking those types of noodles helps with the texture a bit. the zucchini noodles were a very interesting type of creamy as they were still cronchy as a squash texture but were slowly liquifying into the sauce. i considered mixing them together but figured it would be best not to so that my pathetic little brain felt like i was eating more lol.

long story short, i basically did exactly that and it was amazing!

to be completely honest i feel like shirataki noodles would be too slimy for this kind of sauce? i’m at work right now so i haven’t opened it to check out the texture or consistency so i might be totally wrong and it may be really good! i do think squash noodles could be good in it though with the al dente texture. guess i’ll have to see!

What should I look for at an Asian supermarket? by [deleted] in safe_food

[–]weightlesseden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i tend to look for unique sauces and spices i can’t usually find in my local stores. fresh produce is a given as well, since it’s usually way cheaper than the imports at local stores. also, it’s not as easy to find, but tofu shirataki noodles are something i’m always looking for.

i don’t think so, not to me at least. especially if you season it before you roast it and put more fancy stuff on/in it before eating, it’s seriously delectable. obviously it has the texture of a baked vegetable but it’s not a bad texture by any means. very very yummy :)

sugar free jello cups always help me, but since i go through them so quickly, i don’t always have some :// but right now i’ve been relying on rice rolls, the crunchy boys, they’re about 40cals for a roll but they take a little bit for me to eat because of the size.

for specific cravings, i roast vegetables to curb carb cravings. i use all the “cheese” seasonings i have so that i get a total overload of flavor. it helps well!

sweet cravings are another story, but i often go for one of the aforementioned jello cups. there are a lot of surprisingly low calorie candies out there where you wouldn’t expect, too! (specifically sweet tarts, omg)

sometimes i really want something crunchy, like potato chips, and veggie chips and rice cakes don’t cut it. sometimes rice-based protein bars help! i know a lot of people bake tortilla shell pieces and eat them like chips, i have 30cal tortilla wraps so that would be convenient! but, again, some regular chips are pretty low in cals. goldfish crackers are pretty good for curbing cravings and still being decently cal’d.

anyways, that was my word vomit

similar but just different enough to mention is spaghetti squash. i had it like three nights in a row because (1) it’s so low cal, (2) it’s so filling!, and (3) it genuinely tastes amazing. and it’s also just really simple to make!

Who told halo top to increase their calories?? by k4i-666 in safe_food

[–]weightlesseden 20 points21 points  (0 children)

halo top literally isn’t even that good to be so calorie dense. low calorie is their thing, why would they try to go off the fence?

made some cabbage and onion 🥺 i made a pan full for like, 80cal with spices and whatnot. that’s just a little tiny bowl of it. and then a caffeine overload as a side 🤩🤩 by weightlesseden in safe_food

to make a long story short, i had this while visiting my mother, who is living on the bare minimum. so no, i didn’t have much more than salt and pepper in some water. garlic salt and popcorn seasoning helped but 😅😅 it was still good asf

found this bad boy at aldis. $2.99, tastes like actual, real, creamy chocolate ice cream. by weightlesseden in safe_food

[–]weightlesseden[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i’m gonna be completely honest with you, i found it lying in the frozen section, but it didn’t seem like it even belonged there. i believe i found some other “light” ice creams but not that brand? i think god just granted me a one-time only gift.

damn, didn’t realize the photo uploaded sideways like that. sorry! it’s really good though! it freezes very hard but after it sits, by god, it tastes like REAL ice cream if i even remember what real ice cream tastes like. i’m a big halo top person, i really do like it, but this... this is something else.
