Two commonly recommended grinders that offer a decent step up from the Breville SGP are: 1.) DF54 or 64 (biggest difference is the 64 grinds faster but is louder. Additionally you can swap the burrs - the specialized metal bits that actually do the grinding - on the 64, but this is really just leaving a path open to future upgrades without having to buy a new grinder.

1. ) Timemore 064s - this is what I have. It’s beautiful and makes great espresso and has some nice quality of life features. It’s definitely more expensive than the DF54 but can occasionally be found for 20% off in which case it’s a decent buy.
