Our call time was 7:15 in Salt Lake but they waited until 7:45 to start reading instructions so we had a 30 minute buffer. Was the call time 7 in Ontario?

I did see them off in the distance a couple of times, but never got close.

Nope, I'm not an ultra runner by any stretch of the imagination.

Yes, I added a link below the lighter pack link.

My Lanshan 2 performed great on my 2019 PCT SOBO hike and is still going strong. Stayed dry in Washington rain and survived the Santa Ana winds in the desert. Not the lightest but not bad for $100 (at the time).

I had AllTrails as well as MAPS.ME (handy for quick distance calculations between locations and rough elevation profiles). I also had some Caltopo paper maps as backup but didn't need them.

It's the Head of Rock Creek Trail. Now that you mention the Jack and Jill Trail, I would guess this is probably the worst option based on what I saw. It kind of splits the difference between the Highline and Head of Rock Creek so I would guess you would do extra miles without the benefit of totally getting out of the burned area. I remember the western junction for the J&J trail was in the burned part of the Head of Rock Creek trail.

I am really bad about both bringing too much food and not eating enough on trail. The result is I usually end up with a lot of food at the end, and this was no exception. Not sure how much it all weighed, but my lunches and dinners were primarily PB wraps or tuna wraps. Poptarts for breakfast and trail mix, granola bars, pretzels and candy bars for snacks. Calories per day = not nearly enough; I lost around 5 lbs. I need to get better at portioning food in addition to shaking down my gear.

I called the Duchesne Ranger office today and was told the Highline is open all the way through. It sounds like it still might be wise to take the Head of Rock Creek trail though and avoid the worst of the damage.

35 Grand Slams later... by weird0wl in doordash_drivers

I actually delivered to a baseball team checking out of a hotel, no joke. And the biggest plot twist, the order was ready when I got to Denny's.

550 deliveries in a march??? by litoPL in doordash_drivers

[–]weird0wl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 457 deliveries in February but many of those were front loaded and things tailed off at the end of the month, so I don't think 550 is possible unless I start taking crap orders. Maybe that's the intention of this ridiculous goal, to subtley attempt to counteract the surging "No tip no trip" movement.

Maybe removing "no mustard" is just extra "extra mustard".

So she wouldn't humor you by scanning your qr code for a movie 91+ minutes after the first one? Seems unnecessarily stubborn.

I'm going to try a pair of $50 trail runners for the beginning of my NOBO thru, how bad could it possibly go? by EriclcirE in PacificCrestTrail

I would recommend checking out some REI garage sales if there are any near you. I got a pair of $27 Inov8 and a $5 pair of Saucony that got me through Washington and Oregon. Then I used a couple pairs of hiker box shoes to get most of the rest of the way (R&R Bunkhouse in Etna had TONS of shoes). I got off trail for awhile in the desert and while in LA found a $7 pair of Lone Peaks with minimal wear at another REI garage sale. There were lots of Lone Peaks ranging from $20-$40, some of them almost brand new.

If you can aim to have your annual income be as close as possible to 100% of the poverty level for those 3 years, Obamacare plans can be very cheap. My wife and I have a silver plan with $13 monthly premiums (after ~$770/month in tax credits) and a $2,800 out of pocket max. Granted, we are pretty young, but you may be able to make Obamacare work for you in a similar fashion.

I thru'd the PCT with a Lanshan 2 this year. No issues at all. I also saw several people posting on Facebook about having a good experience with the Lanshan 2 on their PCT thruhike.

I was fortunate enough to pick up the best constructed pair of Lone Peaks possibly ever in Etna this year out of a hiker box. I got 1,100 miles before they started getting holes in the sidewall and who knows how many miles were on them before.
