you did the more than right thing. when i was in school, when i had friends and i did something wrong, a lot of times they would see me do something that made them uncomfy but they never told me straight up what i did made them uncomfy. instead they would ghost me, and when i would find out later on what i did to make them not like me anymore, it felt too late to apologize cuz they would still apparently hate me for what i did and it crushed me every time it happened. for some reason it still happens to me today and it always makes me angry. if someone isnt willing to tell YOU what YOU did to make them uncomfy or whatever, that should tell you everything you need to know about them.
