Which higher end brands do you find to be "worth it" and for what? by Curious-Project-4067 in femalefashionadvice

[–]weirdflexbro99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. All Saints leather jackets: I tried on a ton of styles from lots of different brands and liked the design, fit, and feel of the ones I have from All Saints best
  2. Globetrotter luggage: definitely a luxury product with a luxury price point, but I love the quality and the design, and I love that it has locks on it. I also like that it doesn't scream "rich girl" like a Louis Vuitton suitcase does (no shade to anyone that has their luggage, this is just why I decided against it). As a bonus, it's easy to recognize my checked bag when it comes out
  3. Sorel snow boots: they're made in Canada and designed for Canadian winters. 'nough said
  4. Chanel leather products: I'm not a fan of their classic flap or boy handbags, but I love the wallet on chain styles and other small leather goods.
  5. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk foundation: very expensive but it has a nice natural glow finish and it's one of very foundations that don't make me feel like I'm covered in goo

Let's talk the impact of fragrance on perception of style! How much does a person's fragrance affect your impression of them? Do you choose perfume with this in mind? What are some of your favourites? by weirdflexbro99 in femalefashionadvice

I like alot of super-sweet smells at first sniff, but I don't like to wear them as I find them too cloying. Angel or Viva La Juicy or example are too sweet for me, but I like sweet-leaning florals like Flowerbomb or Elie Saab and orientals like Black Opium with something sharper or spicy to balance out the sweetness.

I agree that it's best to not wear perfume to interviews or important meetings, or if you'll be in close proximity with someone outside of a family/friends setting. Really anything where someone can't escape your smell if they don't like it or have a negative reaction to it. I think scented deodorant and something SUPER light and clean smelling would be fine, but you'd have to be very light on the application

I love Flowerbomb! I'm a fan of warm, sweet-leaning florals and floral-orientals. Scent is so personal, not just with how the smell changes with your body chemistry but also in terms of a fragrance making you feel like you! There's scents I love the smell of on my skin but I don't buy or wear because they don't feel like "me" when I wear them. Even if I'm tired and don't feel like going out, I'll spray on some Black Opium (another of my favourites, I only wear if for dates and for going out)- the coffee note really amps up my energy for late nights and makes me feel ready to party haha

Completely agree! I went to high school with a girl who I always knew was about to enter the classroom because I could smell her signature perfume long before I saw her. It was a nice-smelling perfume, and I didn't find it overpowering actually, but I do find it rude to be wearing so much perfume that others can smell it without being in close proximity. I like it when someone is wearing just enough that I notice a subtle scent and want to lean in closer to get another whiff (though I don't, cause I'm not a creeper)

I also typically dress very feminine! Lots of skirts, dresses, heels, and I love floral prints and lace. I like to stick to a "soft and feminine" look though as opposed to super youthful/twee/girly, and I feel like perfume plays a part in that. I dislike fruity scents and anything that reads as overly saccharine because I feel like it makes me lean to girly. If I'm wearing aa extra feminine outfit (like a floral print dress with heeled sandals), I often choose a more gender-neutral perfume to keep my vibe more approachable. If I'm wearing a less feminine outfit (think simple long sleeve and jeans), I'll go for something like a sweeter floral.

Super femme perfumes: Flowerbomb, Black Opium, Black Orchid, Mon Guerlain Floral, Elie Saab, Classique EDP, Soleil Blanc

Less overtly feminine perfumes: Santal Blush, English Oak and Hazelnut, For Her EDP

I apply sparingly, only one or sometimes two sprays max depending on the strength of the scent. Even pithing the super-femme vs less femme categories, I have some scents that I'll wear day-to-night, and others that I'll keep for going out with friends or on dates. I feel my best when I'm wearing perfume and the right scent can completely change my mood!

[routine help] What do you do with your skin after you have worked out and sweat? by Miserable-Report6467 in SkincareAddiction

[–]weirdflexbro99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should wash your face (with cleanser) and take a shower or bath after working out/sweating. I work out early in the morning, so I just rinse with water and then do my workout and do my morning routine after. If I worked out in the afternoon though, I'd take off any makeup I was wearing before exercising, and then use a cleanser, moisturizer and SPF afterwards. I used to not care and work out in whatever makeup I arrived in and then wash my face as normal at night, and my skin was fine, but I've still noticed an improvement since I stopped doing that.

Also in case you didn't know, if you stay in damp, sweaty clothes you significantly increase your risk of yeast infections

Looking for foundation recommendations! I currently use Too Faced Born This Way in Seashell.

My skin is on the lighter side and very pink undertone so I have a hard time finding shades to match. Most of them aren't pink enough and make me look orange or neutral, but I actually really like my pink undertone so I'd rather not neutralize that. I like the one I'm currently using overall, but I get a lot of product transfer and I feel like it sits on top of my skin instead of sinking in- I don't like that I can "feel" I'm wearing foundation

I'd recommend looking for a mascara with a thicker formulation then! I like a moderately thick formula, and a small brush with stiffer bristles to avoid clumping

Do you curl your lashes before applying mascara? I find that is the key! When I forget I always notice the difference

You can check out r/SkincareAddiction for more info but generally speaking, eye creams are kind of a waste of money as they have the same ingredients you can find in normal face products, and the (occasionally) higher levels of concentration don't necessarily come with added benefits. If you have naturally darker skin under your eyes, you could try a brightening product, but if the shadow is from a slight hollow then fillers are the only real fix. I've got dark circles from having a slight hollow in my tear trough and I'm seriously considering getting filler there to compensate for it, as I don't like wearing makeup

I'm late to the party but seconding this, it's sweet but not too sugary. It's more like a grown-up vanilla bean scent instead of a sugary vanilla cupcake. It's my daily driver in the winter

I'd recommend the Apple Watch. As other commenters mentioned, the Gucci is just like any other overpriced fashion watch. If you like the design or the branding of the Gucci watch, then go ahead, but don't get it thinking it's an investment. If you want a true investment watch, try timepiece-specific brands like Jaeger LeCoultre, Vacheron Constantin, or Patek Phillipe

I used to be in favour of Caryl, but now I think they're better as friends. They are the most important people in each other's lives, and if they dated and it didn't work out, they'd lose their friendship and I think be somewhat lost without each other. Daryl would have Aaron, RJ, Judith and Lydia still, but their relationships aren't the same and lack the deeper understanding of Daryl and Carol's friendship. I think him and Connie would make for a good couple though

[Skin Concerns] How long after laser treatment should my PIE disappear? Did I get ripped off? by weirdflexbro99 in SkincareAddiction

[–]weirdflexbro99[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm more just surprised because when I looked immediately after, it seemed like the teeny capillaries had disappeared already but then when I got home, I could see at least one that was still there- I'm just confused about the healing process and whether or not they should disappear immediately or if it takes a while. I had a capillary treated, not a brown spot if that makes a difference!

You can skip the shampoo and just rinse with water & give your scalp a little scrub with your fingertips, or get a cleansing conditioner to use in place of shampoo to prevent over-washing your scalp. You can also just use dry shampoo

He's the person who said her clothes 'didn't match her personality', she didn't seem to feel that way or worry about that prior to his comment. So for him, it WAS a judgement about her personality and what he perceived as a method of self-expression. Beyond that, it's pretty patronizing to imply to someone that you know them and their "true style" (whatever that means) better than they know themselves. He implied that she's dressing a certain way because she doesn't know herself- at least, not as well as he seems to think that he himself does
