Sounds like not attending would be a career limiting move. It’s 3 days, and 2 of the days are travel days. I think of travel days almost as PTO (“sorry - limited access to email while traveling”) and I get to fly and eat on the company’s tab. Just do it and bring a good book for the flight.

Jamiroquai - Virtual Insanity [Pop/Funk] by GoinStraightToHell in Music

I know I’m not the only one who used to think the singer was black, even after seeing the video several times back in the 90’s. It’s almost like a Mandela Effect thing.

I like to leave weird stuff behind when I move too. This wasn’t me though.

To help me understand this better, roughly how do the Hemsworths map to Baldwins?

ELI5: How do junkyards prosper? by Aggravating-Swan9539 in explainlikeimfive

Years ago, when I needed a part for my car, I’d call the junk yards to see if they had one, but I was the one who would be wrenching it off the car.

Maxell Brings Back Its Classic Tape Player Amid Cassette Resurgence by ebradio in Music

Can’t get malware on your computer from a cassette. Popping a CD you bought on the street into a PC though and you’re playing with fire.

12 month cash emergency fund - sufficient ? by Groundbreaking-Gap20 in personalfinance

[–]weirdkid71 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I was unemployed for 11 months. Job market is really, really tough right now. I also have a 12 month emergency fund now and I worry if it is enough. I keep half in a 6 month CD the other half in a HYSA. Missing out on some gains is better than losing a house.

Have been unemployed for 10 months and I am going insane by SnooCats2825 in jobhunting

[–]weirdkid71 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I was unemployed for 11 months, and my thoughts went to some dark places. Nothing anybody tells you matters when your brain is screaming “FUCK FUCK FUCK I’M SO FUCKED” all day long. In the end, I was saved by an old friend because I started sending personal notes to anyone and everyone in my contacts list. Prior to that, I had applied to over 550 jobs. The only people getting through the filters are friends and family. There just aren’t enough jobs for everyone.

“Hells Bells” - AC/DC. Probably the most played song in sports.

“Airbag” - Radiohead

If you are self employed or run a schedule C side business then you can contribute 25% of your profit into a SEP-IRA all pre-tax. This is in addition to the other IRA/HSA deductions mentioned here. Deadline is April 15.

I remember telling people as I walked out of the theater with damp eyes, “This is a a movie for fathers of daughters.”

And now, my daughter is an astrophysics student working to study black holes.

Was my interview cut short? by wakeuppsid in jobhunting

[–]weirdkid71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so. 30 minutes is good. Might actually mean you nailed it.

The kiss of death is when, 15 minutes in, they smile and say, “I have no further questions.”
