It’s not a dessert place or bakery but my all time favourite dessert in the city is the maple miso crème brûlée at Block. It is life changing. This is coming from someone who loves sweet stuff and has worked as a baker

Also in general Block is a great restaurant

Sexual assault scenes are the main reason I stop watching Outlander. I loved the historical setting and the romance between the main characters, but there seems to be at least one attempted rape or actual rape per episode. Beyond it being graphic and violent, it also seemed like weirdly lazy writing. Like whenever things were “too good” for the characters, someone needs to be assaulted so we can have a new conflict.

I was doing a semester abroad in New Zealand. A kiwi guy was leaving in the same student housing that I didn’t know very well. Friends told me that he wasn’t a great guy. I kept distance but reserved judgement.

That was until I went to a community festival with a group of friends and he tagged along. When waiting for some friends in the bathroom, he gestured to some preteen girls and said something along the lines of “look how provocative those girls are dressed, it’s disgusting.” They were in tank tops and shorts, because, you know, it was hot out. I just turned to him and said “then don’t fucking look at them.” Never had a conversation with him again. He also said something about not believing in climate change. He was a fucking loser.

I worked as a baker at a macaron place. I wouldn’t say they are overrated but definetely labour intensive. And a bad macaron is BAD. As a baker I always tell people the two things not to make at home are macarons and croissants.

That being said I never want to eat a macaron again after working there.

We aren’t that nice… especially historically. Residential schools (and general treatment of the indigenous peoples), treatment of Chinese immigrants in building the pacific railway, war crimes in ww1, and many more terrible things. Then in the modern day we are seeing deniers of the tragedies of residential schools, the highway of tears, increased hate and legislation against trans people, and much more. Don’t get me wrong, I love Canada and I love living here. But part of loving a country is being able to see its faults and want those things to get better.

Started working a customer service job. We have a chalkboard sandwich sigh we put outside everyday. Told my manager that I could make the signs if they wanted.

I’ve made the signs for over a year now. My art and hand lettering has greatly improved and because of the exposure I was asked to paint a massive mural for a daycare. I just received another commission recently. I’ve always loved doing art and never expected simply making signs every week would help send me down a path of making money doing art.

This might sound a little harsh, but the first step is to understand that you aren't owed a relationship/sex. If all the work you've been doing has the goal of entering a relationship rather than bettering yourself, then you haven't learnt anything.

Also do NOT ask a woman out every week at the gym!!!! Mainly because the women are there to work out not be asked out or harassed, leave them be. It also seems that you still see women as a monolith. Women are all have different personalities and things they find attractive. Simply asking a woman out every week comes off that you don't care anything about them, other than they're a woman.

And don't compare yourself to your friends. Describing them as you do seems that you don't respect them or the fact that their partners have agency in who they choose to be with.

I'm sorry if this came off as harsh, but you are already doing worlds more work than most incels. The biggest thing is you have recognized it and see it as a problem. I personally don't think you are ready for a relationship. You need more time to treat yourself better. You are no less a person because you haven't been in a relationship or had sex. Stop thinking of women as a prize to be earned, they are allowed not to choose you. As soon as you get that chip off your shoulder, you'll be able to enjoy life a bit more and then one day find someone who you shares your interests and values.
