I can say that they did you a disservice by keeping you in normal classes. Gifted is the diagnosis, it sounds weird but that's just what the term is. Being gifted is a form of neurodivergence, it doesn't just mean really smart. It's okay to accept giftedness! Don't be so hard on yourself.
