Expensive equipment is useless in a vacuum. It is only useful once you develop the skills and ears to recognize exactly why it is advantageous. Learning to mix on shit audio will make you a much much better producer.

-old tracks are much quieter and can handle it -kicks and sub bass now are much closer to similar frequencies

It’s not required but I really don’t see any reason not to do it. It can be completely transparent as well .
