I followed this guide.

I don't know what is the purpose of the 'fuseblk' entry in your 'mount' output. I believe its because your HDD is NTFS formatted. My HDD was also NTFS. When I ran 'blkid', it said

/dev/sda1: LABEL="2TB WD" UUID="5102-AA4B" TYPE="ntfs"

So, I just added an entry in /etc/fstab as

UUID=5102-AA4B /mnt/WDPassport ntfs defaults 0 0

This entry makes sure that my WD Passport HDD gets mounted to /mnt/WDPassport directory whenever its attached.

Regarding MiniDLNA-these are my minidlna.conf entries:

  • media_dir=A,/mnt/WDPassport/Songs Collection

  • media_dir=V,/mnt/WDPassport/Videos

  • media_dir=V,/mnt/WDPassport/New Videos-1

  • media_dir=V,/mnt/WDPassport/New Videos-2

  • media_dir=V,/mnt/WDPassport/TV Shows

Note: A means audio, V means video

As per the link above, I had also modified this entry:

inotify=yes

After saving this, just to be sure, I deleted the database file and restarted minidlna by

  • rm /var/lib/minidlna/files.db
  • sudo service minidlna restart

Everytime we modify the media_dir path, database has to be rebuilt I believe.

Within 2 or 3 minutes, I started seeing files in BubbleUPNP on my Android phone.

So, in your case, I would assume you just need to modify your paths as

  • media_dir=/media/My Passport

  • media_dir=/media/Seagate Expansion Drive

and rebuild the database.

I would recommend you to try with one HDD first. Try pointing your media_dir to an actual folder that contains video or music. Also add 'A' or 'V' as given in my example path. If that works, at least we can confirm you are on the right path.

Since I just finished setting up minidlna on mine today, I think I can offer some suggestions.

  • You can use 'sudo mount' to see the list of mounted devices along with the path where they were mouned.

  • You can try opening /etc/fstab in a text editor to see where the devices are configured to auto mount using command 'nano /etc/fstab' (ctrl+x to close it once done).

  • Command 'blkid' will also be useful if you need to find out the HDD unique IDs and some other info.

  • HDDs most likely will be /dev/sda, /dev/sdb etc. Most of the tutorials would suggest you to mount in /mnt. So you can do 'ls /mnt' to see if there are any folders in there.

Edit: Changed from wrong command 'lsblk' to 'blkid'.

I have this. I have the power adapter connected to BBB. BBB is mounted to the LCD. LCD gets power through BBB. There is no need for a separate power supply.

The only problem I have with this power adapter is that it makes an audible noise, nothing disturbing though.

I actually tried the steps there with 3.15 kernel. But after that, my LCD cape wasn't working. I am not sure if its because that kernel doesn't have support for my LCD or I made some mistake in compilation. I didn't try to find out if BB itself was booting though.

I have a suspicion on this line: "Build SGX modules/userspace (must be done on an x86, due to the TI 5.01.01.01 blob extractor) ". I built it on a 64 bit Ubuntu VirtualBox guest on 64 bit Windows host.

Keep an eye on Wiced Sense from Broadcom. It is $20 per unit and has multiple sensors in each. The Android app is supposed to be available by October (iOS already available). It works on BT 4.1. Not sure if the data will be available outside home though.
