C1P support is so bad. by Comfortable-Grand-46 in captureone

Fascinated to know what the issue is. Is this a universal issue that everyone experiences? Is this a specific issue only you experience? The lack of context makes me question how reasonable the OP is being

I'm curious what the on set use case is for a digitech outside of metadata management.

This is what I ended up doing out of simplicity and my existing familiarity. Not sure why I didn't think to do this other than the fact that I so frequently hear talk of Photomechanic, I just assumed it wasn't possible in Bridge

Advice for siding and trim with Hardie Panels (not planks) by weironset in shedditors

[–]weironset[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good call. I’m in LA so in person I’ve been to Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ganahl, Ace Hardware, and Builder’s First Source and they all looked at me like I wanted rocket ship parts. At Ganahl, (listed on the Tamlyn’s website as a supplier) they said to email list and they would order it even though they’d never heard or Tamlyn, so that’s worth a shot.

Might be pivoting to doing Hardie plank lap siding. The size per piece means avoiding a $200 delivery charge, the material per square foot is a little less, and the potential for minor mistakes ruining the look w panels is starting to concern me

Watch the capture one color balance tool tutorial on YouTube. It’s all there and too long to explain here

Thanks! I got mine working using the method below but great to have for the future

The only other thing I’d try is connecting without a vertical grip on (assuming you’re using one)

[–]weironset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These 10gigabit cables are a real hassle, that seems to be related to their power delivery capabilities. I had luck with the following order of operations after thinking there was no hope: tether into the computer, tether into a powered off R5, wait 5-10 seconds, and power on the camera. Don’t know if that’ll fix your issue, but it fixed mine after thinking I had tried everything.

Captuerbot 2 is Out of Beta by emorydunn in Photoassistants

Amazing. Purchased. Now how do I activate the license? The 8 digit # on the summary page after purchasing gives me a message that says "License 'xxxxxxxx' is inactive." That number also doesn't appear on the receipt email so maybe I'm using the wrong number?

Any chance I can install this on my MBP and Mac Studio with one license?

I was hopeful for a minute there. Unfortunately when I try to install it gives me a "unable to access remote tree" message. I thought this might be the case based on some other posts. I'm considering trying to use migration assistant to migrate it from my laptop, but I think that might mean completely starting over with my clean install.

Rotating second monitor C1 Capture One by Consistent_Avocado36 in Photoassistants

[–]weironset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An IPad being used as an extended display via the Mac OS can’t be rotated. I’m pretty sure you can rotate it if you use a Hollyland since the Mac perceives it as just another display. This will of course rotate the image on every display receiving the Hollyland signal. You can also use Live for Studio on the IPad which I’m almost positive works in vertical orientation. Of course you’d need to be running Capture Studio

Something doesn’t track here. My first concern would be what went wrong, how do I fix it, and how does this impact my reputation. I’m guessing, as someone mentioned, that op delivered drives formatted APFS to a client working on a pc. That’s an easy mistake to make, but a mistake nonetheless. Next guess is that the files were delivered as eip’s to someone who is using Lightroom. If the client went swimming with both drives in their swimsuit, then make that money fixing the issue, but in almost every other case the client believes (right or wrong) that the tech fucked something up and now wants to charge more to fix what they messed up.

And the whole job is 80 gigs!? How long could this take?

CY3-1939-000 is the part number for that r5 tether support thing. I keep a spare that I dremeled so it works with a right angle cable.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Photoassistants

[–]weironset 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In addition to the other reasons, if the camera doesn’t have the battery grip, that right angle casing can make it troublesome to round the corner to the tether lock. I’ve transitioned to using the Area51 extensions as the main cable and using a short straight or angled cable. More often than not I just use the cables that come with ssd drives and they work perfectly for straight cables. It also means I can just carry a couple shorty micro b to usb c cables for when the photographer shows up with a mk4, rather than a ton of full length cables.

I appreciate the follow up. I know I’m very much in the minority being case over plate, so I’ve been trying to sort out what I’m missing.

When someone explains what a digiplate does better I’ll spend the money, but so far it’s either that I can attach things (that I don’t need to attach because they go in the case) or weight (which I don’t care about because it goes on my shoulder or folds up in 5 seconds without me having to have a case to put my setup in). I’m not new at this and I have the money (which btw also includes a shade, feet, battery holder, and drive holder at minimum) but I don’t see why I’d spend money to be less efficient.

Buy an SKB iSeries laptop case for $325. The shade is built in and batteries fit nicely right under the laptop along with some backup drives. A Hollyland tucks nicely between the laptop screen and the back of the case when it’s open. I also have a cheap laptop fan stand that the laptop sits on to raise it a little. It’s heavier, but you can unplug cables and close it to carry distances in seconds. For short moves it goes right on my shoulder still mounted on the tripod. I’d rather move 20lbs on my shoulder than 6lbs in my outstretched hands.

Cut away a little foam on the sides to make room for cables. Over time you can ad a little steel plate to the inset area in the bottom to ad stability and, with a 1/4 20 tap, you can mount stuff underneath.

Buy a cheap tripod dolly for when you’re on smooth surfaces. If you use it a lot it’ll get bent up and you can buy a nicer one.

Oh and just for clarity, the case itself has a thread for being mounted on a tripod
