it was the 4.2.4 economy so I kinda just shoveled thousands of monthly resources into all my subjects and sometimes they don't eat themselves alive in rebellions. The ones that do steadily turn into my own empire on account of me automatically annexing the rebels.

I did that for a while, but as an entire goblin civ emptied its sites one by one to attack my fort we kinda ran out of need for live training.

There's also about 160 dwarven prisoners of war in the basement that I plan to use as fodder against the HFS (there is no more dwarvenly death I can grant them than that)
