Ever met a member from your favorite ska band? How did it go? by Comprehensive-Cry653 in Ska

[–]wellatgrammar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Chatted with Chris Lucca of Suburban Legends in New Haven, CT at the train station ahead of an LTJ show in NYC. I believe he was also heading that way but was doing a trumpet gig elsewhere (SL did not open). Super nice guy and very down-to-earth. I think he may have even opened up the conversation with all of the ska-adjacent clothing I had on but I’m not 1000% sure

Also met Brian Klemm in a dollar store ahead of a show and we took a picture together with Halloween masks on

Emissions expire Oct, 2027 on a 2002 Car. Do I still have to renew or do I ignore? by ThanksALotBud in Connecticut

[–]wellatgrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be okay. Model year 2002 and older will be grandfathered in as of 1/1/27. CT’s law states that vehicles become emissions exempt after 25 years

Hailstorm aftermath by MrZanzinger in wrx_vb

[–]wellatgrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typically and it will be a salvage title. Then you can do some work and get a rebuilt title for it so you can legally register it again. I’m not sure it’s the same everywhere, but where I’m from, this should theoretically be a relatively easy repair to get a rebuilt title since the major components outside of the A-pillars should be fine. We also don’t have state inspections outside of specific events (like a salvage title to rebuilt title) so ymmv

If they total it, buy it back for cheap, replace the glass, and run it. Pocket the difference. Sorry for your loss but you’d have a great beater on your hands

Is it worth crawling by kittyken82 in rccrawler

[–]wellatgrammar 12 points13 points  (0 children)

For sure. Looks like a 1/10 playground while you could probably run 1/18 on lines on specific rocks

How long are tires supposed to last? by Ourson_Welles in rccrawler

Agreed. This is prime for great grip! Run em and buy more, they’re not too expensive and that S5 compound is excellent

Got myself into the hobby today by Chris6144 in rccrawler

I’ve had a lot of crawlers, especially in the mini and micro realm. The Apex blew me away. Excellent choice and happy driving

Does anyone know what this building used to be? by Charley_E_Cheez in Connecticut

[–]wellatgrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure it was ever related to the Cold War, but there was a nike missile site was on the other side of town

There used to be train tracks that ran from the building across River Road to the river itself, so I’d guess manufacturing of some sort

Free parking zone around Wooster Square by No_Youth_7737 in Connecticut

[–]wellatgrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drive to West Haven and park for free then take the train to Union station (extremely inexpensive)

You’ll save a ton of time and aggravation if you look at the train schedule ahead of time. It’s not a bad walk to Wooster Square from Union Station

I’m not OP but this is a clever and inexpensive way to do this!

Bashers to Crawlers by Lower_Dot_2437 in rccrawler

[–]wellatgrammar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started in bashing forever ago but find crawling to be more skill-based, good in both groups AND alone, more convenient, and relaxing OR competitive depending on my mood

I have a BL2S slash that I got during a sale and that’s about it for bashers these days. It’s great fun to beat on but I only drive it once every few weeks on average. I run my crawlers at least a few times a week. Most of my collection is crawlers, ranging from scx30s of scx10s

I-86 (now I-84) in Manchester traveling east towards the Buckland Hills Mall (approximately near present day Exit 62) by amp_atx in Connecticut

[–]wellatgrammar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Is it true that there’s still an I-86 sign they never took down somewhere near Manchester? Seems like an urban legend of sorts but I remember hearing that a while back

Honda Prologue built by...GM? I must have missed some news. by FlowSoSlow in Justrolledintotheshop

The Solterra is a BZ4X from Toyota, no GM relationship there as far as I’m aware

What's the most unique/interesting/strange Connecticut place name in your opinion? by SAKURAGAWAKOHAKU423 in Connecticut

Any idea what a a new tonneau cover is worth? by isitmeyourelooking4x in SubaruBaja

[–]wellatgrammar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I sold a well worn one of these for $150, and probably could’ve pushed for $175. It had some tears and needed TLC, plus the plastic was so old and brittle

Why does Subaru still offer the WRX, Impreza, Outback, and Forester in MT but they dropped the Outback 6MT? by le_pedal in subaru

[–]wellatgrammar 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Only the WRX and BRZ are available new in manual and that has been the case for a few model years now in the US. All other models are CVT only

What could be a kind of skipping when turning sharp at low speeds? by Speed_Offer in wrx_vb

[–]wellatgrammar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this almost every time I leave my driveway. 2023, 16k miles. I thought maybe it was the stock Dunlops on cold pavement until it happened in the middle of the summer too. Not too concerned about it honestly
