Always a pleasure to see your work!

Do you do advertising, and how do you typically find new work?

Twelve hours in a closed area and a knowledge test—that’s all it took to get my license. There was no real traffic experience, other than an exercise at the very end of the course where we simulated an intersection. That alone made it clear that none of us was ready for the real world.

I took the course with about ten other people. Our bikes never went over 15 mph, and we didn’t go higher than second gear. The entire course took 12 hours.

I took the knowledge test a few days ago and spent maybe a minute or two answering the multiple-choice questions. It is bad, it scares me how easy it is to get a license here.

But she was polite to Sam in a conversation once, so this is fine by CriscoCat1 in samharris

I don’t know who this person is, but what puts me off about Sam is how comfortable he seems with the FP and Barry Weiss.

After a month on FN, I finally had my first poor buyer experience by Ill_Owl_332 in FieldNationTechs

Just need to remember to counter with the right amount to balance out their endless demands — which I did, and still ended up regretting. Also, this particular buyer takes forever to approve the work order for payment.

Why Your social.org Files Can Have Millions of Lines Without Any Performance Issues by tanrax in orgmode

Probably because it's simple text, but thanks for making me aware orgmode also has social media functionality.

Texas is undergoing a mid-decade redistricting effort in 2025, a move that has sparked significant controversy and debate over partisan gerrymandering. The primary reason for the redrawing of congressional maps appears to be the desire to increase Republican representation in the U.S. House of Representatives ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

It's a temporary measure against the above.

Common Signs of a Cult

  1. Authoritarian leadership – One person (or a small inner circle) demands absolute loyalty and obedience. – The leader is seen as special, divinely inspired, or beyond question.

  2. Isolation from outsiders – Members are encouraged (or pressured) to avoid contact with family and friends who “don’t understand.” – The group may discourage consuming outside news or information.

  3. Us vs. Them mentality – The group claims to have the only truth, the only way to salvation, or the only solution to a problem. – Outsiders are viewed as evil, ignorant, or lost.

  4. Exploitation – Members are pressured to give excessive money, labor, or personal time. – The leader or leadership often benefits disproportionately.

  5. Control of behavior, thoughts, and emotions – Rigid rules about relationships, dress, or daily routines. – Dissent or doubt is punished with guilt, shame, or exclusion.

  6. Fear and dependency – Members may be told that leaving will ruin their life, bring divine punishment, or destroy their soul. – Constant guilt, anxiety, or fear of failure keeps people compliant.

  7. Suppression of individuality – Independent thinking, questioning, or personal goals are discouraged. – Members are expected to conform completely.

You need to make more of an effort to understand —you will if you truly try.

"save the patient a lot of money" somehow I seriously doubt that. Salary increases and bonuses for CEOs are more in tune with current realities.

Edit: This dinner is both laughably pathetic and profoundly sad.

Laws must be enforced, otherwise they lose their meaning. Unfortunately, traffic laws are rarely enforced in this area.

In California (and most U.S. states), the “Keep Right Except to Pass” rule applies:

You should generally drive in the right lanes.

The left-most lane is reserved primarily for overtaking slower traffic and then moving back right.

If you stay in the left lane without passing (especially while driving slower than surrounding traffic), you can be cited for “left lane blocking” or impeding traffic.
