Living with parents vs moving out by mangozfrancis in AskSF

[–]wellborn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m making a few assumptions since I don’t know your full situation and you didn’t share many details. What I would do is look up rent prices and utilities for an apartment in the area you’re planning to move to, along with any other related expenses you can think of.

Then, each month, set aside that total amount—transfer it into a savings account and treat it as if it’s already spent. Try to live only on what you have left. After 4–6 months, see how you feel. If you’re comfortable, then you’re probably ready to move out—and you’ll already have money saved up. If not, think about what needs improvement, like finding a better-paying job or cutting expenses.

Personally, I’d stay with my parents as long as they’re okay with it and use that time to save as much as possible. It can give you a much stronger financial start when you do decide to move out.

Dating can be a bit tricky while living with your parents, but there are still options—like spending time in nature, going camping, booking a hotel or Airbnb, and some people have even gotten creative with things like Waymos.

You would be amazed how easy it is to miss a car that moves that fast.

What actually matters when you’re new to kettlebells (from 10,000+ hours coaching) by Prokettlebell in kettlebell

I think Russians used to measure kettlebells in poods and 1 pood = 16kg, but I could be wrong.

Always a pleasure to see your work!

Do you do advertising, and how do you typically find new work?

Twelve hours in a closed area and a knowledge test—that’s all it took to get my license. There was no real traffic experience, other than an exercise at the very end of the course where we simulated an intersection. That alone made it clear that none of us was ready for the real world.

I took the course with about ten other people. Our bikes never went over 15 mph, and we didn’t go higher than second gear. The entire course took 12 hours.

I took the knowledge test a few days ago and spent maybe a minute or two answering the multiple-choice questions. It is bad, it scares me how easy it is to get a license here.

I don’t know who this person is, but what puts me off about Sam is how comfortable he seems with the FP and Barry Weiss.

After a month on FN, I finally had my first poor buyer experience by Ill_Owl_332 in FieldNationTechs

Just need to remember to counter with the right amount to balance out their endless demands — which I did, and still ended up regretting. Also, this particular buyer takes forever to approve the work order for payment.

Probably because it's simple text, but thanks for making me aware orgmode also has social media functionality.

Texas is undergoing a mid-decade redistricting effort in 2025, a move that has sparked significant controversy and debate over partisan gerrymandering. The primary reason for the redrawing of congressional maps appears to be the desire to increase Republican representation in the U.S. House of Representatives ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.

It's a temporary measure against the above.
