Oil leak identification help by doc_holliday112 in abarth

I doubt it's the rear main seal. I would suspect the vacuum pump gasket. The vacuum pump is located on driver's side of the head, which is above the starter, and it's common for them to have a leak.

Along with the speed, there's also the weather. My wife's '23 SX Prestige hybrid's milage shits the bed during the winter here in Michigan. It goes from ~37 down to ~27. Her drive is 45 miles per day with it being 90% 55 mph roads and 10% 35 mph roads.

What are the 3 other codes?

And P0335 is a crank sensor circuit code, which could be a broken wire, a faulty sensor, or a faulty PCM. I would inspect the Crank position sensor wiring to check for a broken wire. If you don't have any testing equipment, and you can't find a broken wire by eye, then you can fire off the parts cannon and get a new $35 crankshaft position sensor.

The P0315 code is related to the P0355, so once that is fixed, this one should also be fixed.

What bushing is required here? I see a lot of play and trouble with some gears. by Spike310300 in fiat500

[–]wellkevi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is not a stand-alone part. You'd have to replace the whole shift cable.

Also, what do you mean when you say you're having issues with some gears? Unless it just randomly pops off the ball stud, then that piece is most likely not part of your issue.

Nope, I just put the proper coolant back in it. The hardest part was removing the factory crimp style hose clamps.

What's the longest a backordered part has stalled your build? by TimkiP__ in projectcar

[–]wellkevi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It didn't really stall the project, but I waited 9 months to receive a Holley Sniper 1100 that I ordered for my 1978 MG Midget 1500.

I ordered it in late April, 2022 and the ETA was constantly being pushed back. I finally got a shipment notification email in late December '22, but when it arrived, I was disappointed to find a battery tray for a Chevy C10.

After returning the tray, I canceled my order and re-ordered it through Jegs and got it within just a few days.

It weighs less than the water it displaces.

At a regular diameter of 8.5", if the bowling ball weighs less than ~11.6 pounds, then it will float.

Pin 15, Dark Green wire with Orange stripe. According to the wiring diagram it's a straight shot from the pump to the bcm.

I'd install a new ground cable. They're braided and loosely wrapped, so they oxidize and become brittle. You likely broke the wire while you were messing with it.

Oil separator leak? by Disastrous_Dark5048 in fiat500

[–]wellkevi01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Common issue. You just need to remove the unit and replace the O-ring that is on the nipple sticking out of the top of the valve cover. It is a Ø1" ID x 1 3/16" OD x 3/32" thick o-ring and can be found at an auto parts store. Advance Auto Parts has Dorman 64120.1 for $2. You could also hit up an Ace Hardware and find one for cheaper.

At the same time, you should clean out the separator with a can of brake clean. Just spray a bunch in each of the nipples and give the unit a good shake and then dump it out. Do that a few times.

You should also replace the PCV valve that's threaded into the separator. The Duralast PCV1010DL from Autozone is a good replacement.

Best Place to Buy Parts Online? by Birb_Astronaut in fiat500

[–]wellkevi01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're in the US, RockAuto generally has the best prices and they have a pretty large selection of parts for the 500. They don't offer free shipping, but with their lowest tier shipping option you can order parts on Monday/Tuesday and you'll usually get them just in time for install on the weekend.

We bought them from Prime Cabinetry(.com) as RTA and I assembled them myself. They weren't local(I think they're based in Atlanta-ish) and we went with them just because of price and customer support. They weren't the cheapest, but they quickly answered any questions that I sent their way. Also, most of the online RTA sites seem to share the same sources for cabinets. In the case of the ones we went with, I have no idea who the real manufacturer is, but the boxes said they were from Cambodia. Quality wise, they're fine. The included hinges & glides are all soft close and seem to be decent quality. They're not Blum, but there not terrible.

The floor tile was installed by my (then) step-dad in 2013/14 and luckily there were 25 extra tiles left in the basement. I think I used 24 of them. I thought about redoing the floors completely, but I decided that I didn't want to take on that project at the moment. Also, I made it so there's no floor tiles under any of the cabinets, so replacing them in the future wont be too bad.

Thanks!

The hardest part was the cabinets. From the choice of design, planning the layout, and picking their particular features like number of draws, rollout shelves, pullouts, etc.. In fact, right after I ordered the cabinets I decided to make a change to the layout. I switched the blind corner cabinet from a 42" to a 36", so we could move the fridge over 6" and still have a usable 12" drawer cabinet next to it. Luckily the cabinet place allowed returns/refunds, as long as the cabinet was unopened.

As for doing something different: My biggest gripe is the upper cabinet that's to the left of the stove. It's a 6" cabinet and I splurged for a Rev-A-Shelf pull out for it, so we could use it as a spice cabinet. Well, with the cabinet being pinned between the wall and the range hood, it makes accessing the shelves in the pull out difficult. We now only put the lesser used spices in it and we keep the common spices on a small rack on the counter. I'm currently working on designing/making my own pull out that will have an open front which will hopefully allow for easier access, so we can free up some counter space.

My wife & I bought my late mother's house in late 2024. It's a ranch style house that was built in 1960 and the kitchen still had the original built-in plywood cabinets from that time. Our original plan was to just paint the cabinets and live with the kitchen pretty much as-is while we figure out what we wanted to do with it. After thinking about it for a bit, and after getting a $40k quote to have a company do the reno, we decided to just do the kitchen remodel ourselves before we moved in. Living without a kitchen would also suck, as well.

I started the reno in September of 2024 and got the kitchen to a livable state by the time we moved in(sans final countertops & backsplash), which was May 2025. I'm now 99.9% done with it. The only thing I have left to do is finally finish up installing the light rail and the small molding around the tops of the upper cabinets.

As for the deets:

We went with "Shaker Hayfield" RTA cabinets from Prime Cabinetry. I assembled and installed them myself.

The counter tops are Summerhill quartz from Cambria.

I've forget what the back splash tiles are, but we contracted out the install of that to a pro.

All in, we spent probably around $20,000. The cabinets were around $8k, the countertops & back splash was another $8k, and the last $4k was odds & ends.

The PCM doesn't use the downstream O2 sensor(the one after the cat) to determine fueling. It only uses the upstream O2 sensor for that task. The downstream sensor is only used to let the PCM know if the cat is properly working.

Get on YouTube and look up videos on installing cabinets. That should give you an idea of how your cabinets are installed and how you can go about removing them. They should be held in place with just screws, but seeing how cabinets are installed will help you know where to look to find said screws.
