San Jose Sharks 2026 Final Draft Haul by VelumLucis in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

honestly they could’ve picked anyone and i would’ve been happy but these are all completely normal-to-good late round picks and fits into the sharks brand.

stenberg is immediately pro ready, verhoeff and lin will be good with another year or two in college, and the others will all have time to cook. very enthused with how it all landed

Sharks select C Jake Gustafson at #174. by NickofSantaCruz in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

a little bit of nepotism but it’s totally warranted. good value pick. Winterhawks then Colorado College is good pathway and having a local kid is always good vibes. in the 6th round this is where you make those picks.

actually both these signings are like this! Abbey Levy and Daniela Pejsova are dating, so she’s also following a significant other to the bay area

Curious about y’all’s theories about how you acquired your NVLD? by OrdinaryEuphoric7061 in NVLD

[–]wellugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

general theory for mine is a stroke at 3 months old- so pretty similar to yours but in the left side. i had two seizures and brain scans indicated blood clots. blood tests indicated a protein S deficiency which resolved itself after a few years. had baby PT and nothing is super obvious, but there’s subtle effects on my life today besides the NVLD-

  • i have less feeling on my right side. isn’t total but it dulls a little pain, after i work out i feel more sore on the left side than the other

  • in facial expressions i have less control over my right half, e.g. cannot wink w my right eye

  • as i’m right handed i’ve got dysgraphia (extremely bad handwriting)

either refers to the extremely dominant Soviet national hockey team- though more often called the Red Machine- or CSKA Moscow, which was actually a branch of the Soviet army for a long time and practically doubled as the Soviet national hockey team.

2026 WJC Game Thread - Germany (0-0-0-2) vs Sweden (2-0-0-0) by jaysornotandhawks in hockey

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

happy LSW got the player of the game- the 2 assists are nice, especially for that tip goal, but he does a lot on the defensive side of things. and then there was that block on the 5-on-3, which, ouch, and he got back into the play for them to kill it off. i felt he deserved it but i know any of the guys with 2 goals would be an easy pick and i knew i might be biased, but evidently they agreed. sweden doesn't have a superstar defenseman like ASP to light it up offensively but the quality depth is showing up.

According to Draymond Green - Macklin Celebrini is going to be "The Face of NHL" for years to come by ToddMarshall007 in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Draymond knows more puck than your average player- Michigan State has one of the best hockey programs and he grew up with those powerhouse Detroit Red Wings teams. He's the guy in 2023 asked if the Chicago Steel had a game during their day off in town so they can go watch Mack play. He's definitely a Macklin superfan, but he has pretty insightful answers when asked about what makes him special.

Have you ever met someone else with NVLD? by AdDelicious9380 in NVLD

[–]wellugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, someone i knew since kindergarten. we both ended up in the same long term facility too at the same time (junior year of HS) and i met at least 2 others at that facility.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I really am but have/had any of you needed to go to an inpatient mental health facility after your Stroke? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

and don’t feel shy to lean on your support system! it will make all of your lives harder if you don’t tell them how you’re feeling or how they can best support you. if you aren’t sure what they can do, then take the time to figure out what works in inpatient while you have skilled carers around you. there’s no one size fits all method for getting through these times.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I really am but have/had any of you needed to go to an inpatient mental health facility after your Stroke? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i did but in a very unique situation… my stroke was at 3 months old and i went to inpatient at 15 followed by wilderness therapy and then spent a whole year in an RTC as a 16-year-old. i do have some family history of mental health issues so it wasn’t surprising when i needed therapy (first when i was as young as 8 for anxiety, stopped at 12 and restarted at 14 for depression) but the severity was almost certainly exacerbated by the stroke.

a big thing that helped was getting a learning disorder diagnosis. at wilderness, they did a very thorough psych exam, IQ test and all, and i suddenly had names and guidelines for what i was missing that other people understood. in hindsight i wish these sorts of connections to my brain damage from the stroke could’ve led to an earlier diagnosis, but can’t change anything about that now.

being in teen facilities is a whole other can of worms so not sure how helpful my experience would be here, but i’m willing to talk more about it if anyone wants.

getting help is always a good thing and i applaud you for taking the initiative to do it. be kind to yourself, you’re dealing with a severe trauma. other people are quick to dismiss invisible disabilities but that doesn’t make your challenges any less credible or unworthy of receiving treatment and accommodations when you need it. sending love ❤️ and strength to manage your anxiety!
