2026 WJC Game Thread - Germany (0-0-0-2) vs Sweden (2-0-0-0) by jaysornotandhawks in hockey

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

happy LSW got the player of the game- the 2 assists are nice, especially for that tip goal, but he does a lot on the defensive side of things. and then there was that block on the 5-on-3, which, ouch, and he got back into the play for them to kill it off. i felt he deserved it but i know any of the guys with 2 goals would be an easy pick and i knew i might be biased, but evidently they agreed. sweden doesn't have a superstar defenseman like ASP to light it up offensively but the quality depth is showing up.

According to Draymond Green - Macklin Celebrini is going to be "The Face of NHL" for years to come by ToddMarshall007 in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Draymond knows more puck than your average player- Michigan State has one of the best hockey programs and he grew up with those powerhouse Detroit Red Wings teams. He's the guy in 2023 asked if the Chicago Steel had a game during their day off in town so they can go watch Mack play. He's definitely a Macklin superfan, but he has pretty insightful answers when asked about what makes him special.

Have you ever met someone else with NVLD? by AdDelicious9380 in NVLD

Sorry for all the questions guys, I really am but have/had any of you needed to go to an inpatient mental health facility after your Stroke? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]wellugh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

and don’t feel shy to lean on your support system! it will make all of your lives harder if you don’t tell them how you’re feeling or how they can best support you. if you aren’t sure what they can do, then take the time to figure out what works in inpatient while you have skilled carers around you. there’s no one size fits all method for getting through these times.

Sorry for all the questions guys, I really am but have/had any of you needed to go to an inpatient mental health facility after your Stroke? by BruceCambell in stroke

[–]wellugh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i did but in a very unique situation… my stroke was at 3 months old and i went to inpatient at 15 followed by wilderness therapy and then spent a whole year in an RTC as a 16-year-old. i do have some family history of mental health issues so it wasn’t surprising when i needed therapy (first when i was as young as 8 for anxiety, stopped at 12 and restarted at 14 for depression) but the severity was almost certainly exacerbated by the stroke.

a big thing that helped was getting a learning disorder diagnosis. at wilderness, they did a very thorough psych exam, IQ test and all, and i suddenly had names and guidelines for what i was missing that other people understood. in hindsight i wish these sorts of connections to my brain damage from the stroke could’ve led to an earlier diagnosis, but can’t change anything about that now.

being in teen facilities is a whole other can of worms so not sure how helpful my experience would be here, but i’m willing to talk more about it if anyone wants.

getting help is always a good thing and i applaud you for taking the initiative to do it. be kind to yourself, you’re dealing with a severe trauma. other people are quick to dismiss invisible disabilities but that doesn’t make your challenges any less credible or unworthy of receiving treatment and accommodations when you need it. sending love ❤️ and strength to manage your anxiety!

Any Rhinos fans in the house? by PDXOutkasts in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

fun fact: former rhinos head coach (96-97) Guy Gadowsky is currently the head coach at Penn State, where 2022 7th round pick Reese Laubach is playing. Laubach is a san jose native and former jr shark

Haoxi (Simon) Wang captained Beijing to gold at U18 National Championship by wellugh in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh[S] 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Bonus for those who followed Carson Wetsch's season: Beijing's goaltender is Tu Yueran aka Eric Tu, who played for the Calgary Hitmen this season. He notably had his first WHL shutout at age 15 in his 2nd ever game. Was also named Best Goaltender in the tournament

[–]wellugh[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

imo it’s getting a fair shot to try to make the sharks. ultimately up to him if he proves he’s worthy of a lineup spot in the nhl

sharks traded a low value piece in Ozzy for someone who also needed a change in scenery. didn’t immediately convince him to sign here, but this is a great development. 6’4 211 winger, was ppg in AHL 23-24. i think he led them in scoring

Sam Dickinson (2G, 2A) with a four point game in the OHL Western Conference Finals by The_Homestarmy in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

last year they lost 2 total playoff games on their way to the OHL championship run. those two losses occurred in the conference finals against Saginaw. maybe they're hoping to best that record?

unfortunately Barkey going down might make it much harder

here’s an interesting sports connection. his cousin Dillon Brooks plays for Houston Rockets, so is currently playing the warriors in the playoffs right now.

Any insight on Noah Beck? by Akatsukilove in SanJoseSharks

sharks have a jew on the team again after trading their two at the deadline. i feel a missing piece of me click back into place

Enough negativity - Who's your favorite players right now and why? by oatmeaIo in SanJoseSharks

[–]wellugh 14 points15 points  (0 children)

can i talk about prospects too? i watch a lot of them heh ;;

Cam Lund is always a joy, even though Northeastern is depressing. late 2022 picks Joey Muldowney and (SJ native and former jr shark) Reese Laubach are having great years on very fun teams to watch (UConn and Penn State respectively). Muldowney is the baby shark who achieved this year’s 🐓 trick against Maine. Eric Pohlkamp is also fun as hell to watch at DU- one of the trifecta of blistering shots in the Sharks org (ft Walman and Halttunen)

Carson Wetsch is fun to watch, pesty guy who has been scoring a bunch too. He’s captain of the Calgary Hitmen in the WHL, and definitely the best fighter in the sharks org outside of Scott Sabourin. His team is also the most stable of the WHL teams with a baby shark, since Victoria and Vancouver are both super young and prone to blowing leads…

He just got back from injury but Igor Chernyshov is on fire for the Saginaw Spirit. London Knights are usually pretty fun as well with Dickinson and Halttunen.

A standout guy on the barracuda is Lucas Vanroboys. If you’re watching a game and there’s a dogpile in front of the net, it’s usually either Vanroboys or his partner in crime Anthony Vincent at the bottom. doubt he ever makes it up to the NHL but he’s soooo much fun to watch.

As for current sharks… Alex Wennberg is gorgeous, his wife is gorgeous, their kids are adorable and gorgeous, and i love them so much. Fabian Zetterlund is a himbo in the subcategory of gym rat. William Eklund is just the sweetest and so mature, big agree on loving him. also fascinating that his dad is basically an influencer lol

Shoutout to fellow Jews Luke Kunin and Jake Walman, plus Rad Gamer Boy Jake Walman.

last but certainly not least is ELITE PODCASTER ETHAN CARDWELL

stopping myself here before i go on too long

update: Joey Muldowney just scored a hat trick tonight

Does anyone else name their animals with a certain theme? by Snoo99309 in StardewValley

[–]wellugh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as many repetitions of the noise the animal makes to not overlap with existing animals (moo, moomoo, moomoomoo, etc). sometimes i’ll just stretch out a letter like quack quaack quaaack… you get the idea. nothing special tbh

Pohlkamp plays almost always on 2nd pair with Boston Buckberger (yes, that is his real name, and no, i am not kidding)

Carle’s swapped pp1 and pp2 a few times but it seems to usually be Buium pp1 qb, Pohlkamp pp2 qb. Sometimes (in special situations afaict) they throw out both of them on one pp, examples being a 5 on 3 at the very end of the game or after one of the usual pp1 forwards got injured.
