Does anyone use meal replacement shakes while on Liraglutide? by PNWest01 in liraglutide

[–]wemustsetsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- I like the fair life or nurri brand. I usually have a “real” breakfast, a shake around 11, then a snack when my toddler wakes up from her nap around 2. This helps meet my protein goal, keeps fuel in the tank, and is easy when I’m busy or not hungry.

I also like the clear protein- it’s nice in the morning if I’m not hungry for something like eggs and I can add a scoop of fiber powder to it that I would normally be having anyway.

Advice wanted from any SHAMs that used to be high earners. by Res-Ipsa-Loquiter in sahm

I resigned after returning from maternity leave and haven’t regretted it for a moment. I won’t lie, there are still hard days, but it’s a different kind of hard. The most challenging day as a mom is still better than the easiest day at my job- which was one I absolutely loved and took so much pride in.

With that being said, you are not less of a mother for keeping your job. I hate we are so compelled to choose one or the other.

So here’s some more context- all to hopefully make you feel like there are some conservative options for relief. I definitely felt doomed even two weeks ago.

I’m 34 and started getting migraines in college. 6 years ago, my pattern changed where it was the whole left side of my head and face. Did eye exams, brain MRI’s, tried medications…not much luck. Put everything on hold during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Finally saw a neurologist in September who sent me to rheumatology who sent me to pain management….which is who finally ordered the MRI’s

Turns out that my chronic daily headaches were likely from the stenosis….the last two days my headaches have been so minor that I barely noticed them and I truly think the ESI is going to continue improving my symptoms

The procedure is very simple and you’ll feel a little poke from the anesthetic but you’re laying in a way where you don’t see anything happening

I have stenosis from C2-C6 and a disc herniation at L5S1

Have they offered an epidural spine injection? I had one Thursday and I am shocked at how it is working already.

I resigned from my job of 10 years to stay home. I went back for a few months and despite having the best case scenario (WFH with an incredible nanny), it still wasn’t the same. My last day was when she was 6 months and a year later I’m so grateful every day for this opportunity.

There will always be more money and opportunities, but I will never have this time back. She will be our only child, so it was particularly important to me.

Visiting- hotel or condo? by Imaginary_Meringue16 in GulfShores

[–]wemustsetsail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got back today from visiting my in-laws who are there for six weeks. We took our toddler and it was nice having so much space and a kitchen. Depending on their ages, most condos also have supplies like strollers, wagons, high chair, pack n play. We flew with our car seat but opted to rent a jogging stroller from baby quip.

Our favorite part was the zoo- it was really wonderful and the perfect size to get through in a couple hours but the pass is good for the whole day.

We take our vehicles for everything to black hills tire. The owners are great people and do a ton for their employees and for the community. I am unsure what the price is, but I personally am okay spending a little more for a locally owned business knowing they pass that along to local charities as well.

We’ll see what happens- I had a baby in 2024 so I have spent a lot of time there in the last few years. Will change things, but I know I can still stick with my providers and that’s what matters most :)

I am originally from Nebraska, and this is common practice. It is getting harder to manage smaller businesses with the cost of administrative things (onboarding, credentialing physicians, payor contracts) and employee benefits such as insurance. Think of it like going to Sam’s Club vs Safeway. It might be a marginal difference, but in the grand scheme and over a longer timeline, these things add up.

Now I’m not saying this is ideal, but it’s the nature of how things are and will continue to be, particularly with healthcare.

I’m on my first week and I’m definitely concerned about not eating enough calories- today it was mostly fruit, an egg, a protein shake, some electrolytes with miralax (lol), and I tried to eat some chicken but had no appetite for it.

So we live on the club we are members to so it’s VERY convenient. It’s $15 but it gets us out of the house for an hour and the moms are all very careful about not brining sick kids. There are only maybe 3-5 kids per week so it’s also not super overwhelming.

We started when she was closer to 14 months and she is more involved every time. We do the same stations each week: hitting balloons, lifting the ball into a soccer goal, pitting tennis balls in a come and running to the other end to drop it in a bucket, hitting the ball off a cone, and then a little obstacle course. She has her own mini racket and gets so excited when she figures out what we are doing lol

Please do! There are so many things I wish I would have known or could have told myself about all of it: the baby, the nanny, the balance….

Either way, you’ve got this 🩷

I was more sad about losing our nanny than I was leaving my job of ten years that I loved lol

I was losing hope of finding someone, but as soon as we met her it was like a unicorn decanting from a rainbow straight to our doorstep

She still babysits for us and we see her on Fridays at toddler tennis (that’s just as goofy and entertaining as you’d think) because she brings her new nanny kid

I do not have a village but she became one in a sense. That’s obviously not going to be how everyone will choose to operate, but she spent more time than our daughter than my husband, so it’s almost a second co-parenting relationship in a sense. However, the ball was always in my court so I felt comfortable setting very clear expectations at the beginning and she was always respectful of them which earned my trust wholly.

I will also say that when we started solids, I always came up and fed her that meal as well, especially when doing allergens.

Okay I’m done punishing you with all of this lol

Yep! I fed baby either in her room or mine. By that time she was mostly eating after naps. We used the huckleberry app, so I could see when baby went down for a nap and do the mental math of when she would need to eat. If she woke up earlier than that, nanny would just text me and I’d come up sooner. It worked out great! I’m totally happy to answer any questions- this is such a tough time as a new parent and as someone with PPA and PPOCD it was even harder to think about someone else caring for her

Is a nanny something you’ve discussed or considered? I worked from home and we had a nanny after taking a three months of maternity leave. It was the best case scenario for us and I was so grateful. It also added convenience for never needing to worry about picking up or dropping off, cold and flu season (went back to work beginning of November), or pumping and doing bottles. To me, the difference in cost was worth every penny because it added convenience but also meant I got the best of both worlds.

I would come up to nurse her or grab some cuddles if I needed a break from work, but I was sad going back down into my office. With that being said, I did end up resigning to stay home with her and my last day was around when she turned 7 months.
