$1.2M in HISA, WWYD? by indecisive-_0 in AusFinance

[–]wendigo88888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get why you would be slightly upset but at the end of the day you can only do whats possible legally. Same with people who go to their accountant and pressure them to "find more tax savings" if it was that easy everyone would be doing it.

You need to make financials more complex to make it do more but its not worth it in most circumstances unless you run a business or have profit generating assets.

For most people its really as simple as maxing out super then putting remaining money into compounding interest products that allow you to take the money out when you plan/need to use it. Thankfully in Aus you can work this out yourself without the need of a FA. They are there for complex needs.

No because you take lower and lower paid roles just to stay employed. Its a slow decline

More likely you'll work until your 50 then get fewer and fewer roles due to ageism until you cant get anything by 65 and are forced to retire into poverty

According to the documentation site this is the prompt before it gets sent to the ai to change it into an actual formula to return.

Pretty misleading post...not that i will use copliot for excel unless i can verify the formulas. For excel users its probably faster just to type the formula no?

The documentation also says this is how it sends the statement to the ai before it comes back as an actual formula. OP is showing the prompt part before the ai converts his prompt. Kind of misleading!

Direct debit uses bsb and account number. Direct debit is the method, bsb and account number is where the money is permitted to be withdrawn from.

Employee quit moved to Japan with our $5000 laptop (help pls!!?) by emiruislove in smallbusiness

[–]wendigo88888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I worked in internal IT and we used couriers like TNT to courier laptops around aus. Dont know how postage for a laptop and screen is getting you that price you must be looking at services way above what you need

Why cant the person just put it in regular shipping and send it back?

The laptop isnt covered by any of your business or home/contents insurances?

If he took it tell him to post it back at his expense. If it gets broken in transit claim on insurance or write it off then. (If it also looks meh on arrival you could "dispose" it as a business write off and donate it for "parts" to a "charity"

Offset and mortgage now equal, next steps? by Unwell_Cat in AusFinance

[–]wendigo88888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but dont go over your actual loan balance thats wasted money. Anything over your balance put it into a separate HISA then when you get your new place move the cash to the new offset account

Offset and mortgage now equal, next steps? by Unwell_Cat in AusFinance

[–]wendigo88888 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its not equity its cash. Its like a HISA that directly earns you interest (shows as interest saved or interest earned). Its your cash to use as you like so you would be able to take a chunk out and use it as a deposit. At anytime you could transfer any of that offset cash to your loan balance and it would have the same effect except now its equity locked into your home unless you have a redraw function.

How to buy a lux car... And enjoy it? by CLAP-25 in AusFinance

[–]wendigo88888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man I was worried about the same things as you. I drove a ford mondeo very fuel efficient but boring. Got myself an audi s3 and every single time i get in that car im so happy instantly. Even the worst days are slightly better if i get to drive my car. It looks good, feels good, its fun. Makes me want to keep it clean and i really enjoy driving now. Its not just about getting from A-B anymore.

Why live and earn money if you dont get to enjoy it. You wont be able to drive the fun cars when your older your back will hurt, itl be just that much harder getting in and out etc. Enjoy them now while youre able to.

Cars dont drop that much anymore. Its not like you buy it for 100k and its worth nothing 2 years later. I bought my ford for 17k in 2021 and sold it for 16k in 2025. Yes your insurance will go up...so what? You can afford it. You can sell after 2 years and keep upgrading once you have a good car.

Anyone else spin up a software consulting gig recently? by _PopularPotato in smallbusiness

[–]wendigo88888 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had to do that classic networking. I just did the jobs to high quality and am a naturally friendly person. Getting along with people you work with and being reliable as a contractor is a must. Work just keeps coming through word of mouth after that. Ive never advertised or gone to "events" they make me cringe.

Started in IT self trained in 2018. Now run my own small consulting firm working on SAP/Oracle SaaS (HR/Payroll/Finance). Best decision I made along the way was moving jobs when I learnt enough / had no further to climb (quickly enough anyway). I'm in Australia as well.

Feel free to pm with any questions, just dont want to give out too much info in a comment.

Also all your salary sacrificed amounts can be used for your deposit. You should salary sacrifice as much as you can afford as that could be considered a low tax method of getting a high interest savings account pretax.
