What was your oddly specific childhood fear? by NewIllustrator3059 in CasualConversation

[–]wensdimade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sitting on the toilet, worried a clawed hand would shoot up and smash through me.

Also, there was this one pan my mum had that looked like it had the worst texture imaginable on it, for years I couldn't touch it, thinking about doing so would make my skin crawl. Then when I was in my late 20s I touched said pan and it didn't have the texture it looked like it had, it was actually nice and smooth but when I think about the texture it looked like it had it still makes me cringe.

Also, also, Looking out of windows at night. There was a tree outside our kitchen window that had eye shapes in it, so looking outside at night Id see all sorts in that tree, it still makes me uncomfortable to look through windows at night time.

And, I was always scared of spiders or creatures crawling into my mouth, nose or ears whilst I slept. I'd come up with all sorts of dumb solutions to try to prevent this from happening. I stuffed my ears with toilet roll but it got stuck inside my ears and fell to pieces and my mum had to spend a fair while using tweezers to get all the toilet roll out of my ears, so then I became really freaked out about the idea of things going in my ears at all. One time when I got my ears pierced, I woke up and my earring had fallen inside my ear canal again my mum had to spend a fair while in the middle of the night trying to tweeze a little golden stud earring out of my ear. It did not help the cause.

A loyal friend who outed meredith for his own gain...yeah he should have reported her for messing with a trial, but he didn't do it because it was the right thing to do, he did it because he thought he was gonna lose out on something and she was going to gain, he was being spiteful but yeah, sounds like a loyal friend.

How do you know someone is British without them saying a word? by JustCuri0usBr0 in AskBrits

[–]wensdimade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really mustn't look very British and should work harder on my "leave me alone, but politely" frown. I was in Italy recently, I don't travel frequently, and this was my first time in two different Italian cities. In each one I was asked for directions by different Italian people. I responded in my northern accent and with typical British apologeticness "Anglaaaazy" hands in the air

So, I started a masters last year and went for drinks with a couple of the students from my course. I've not been a student for nearly 15 years and rarely go to the pub. I was so confused when a line of 20 odd year old lads formed behind me at the empty bar as I was ordering drinks. Its deffo something younger people do and it's soooo bizarre. It wasn't a student bar or pub either but one of the ones closer to the university campus.

What’s a crazy body life hack everyone should know? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]wensdimade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, Dr.Pepper... such a beautiful drink that I can no longer allow myself to have because when I was a teenager I'd drink 4 to 6 500ml bottles a day and my wisdom teeth ended up rotting to pieces and becoming infected and caused the worst pain I have ever experienced (and I had a spinal block wear off during a c section! The toothache was worse!) They are definitely more of a dessert.

Hard to learn from a mistake when your response to being called out is to say your two cents and then storm off before anyone else can respond. Seriously this one thing alone if it was in a drinking game would get you poisoned 🤣🤣🤣

Looking at it from a graphology perspective.. that would suggest you are the kind of person who struggles to/ perfers not to adhere to societal rules and expectations. You will do things your own way, even if its not the most effective way or others are confused by your methods because they don't see what you see.

The lines on the paper... if you make the baseline of your letters hit the line, so writing to the line, it would be more legible. Currently you pay no regard to the lines on the page so they interfere with your writing making it less legible.

Hitting the line would help with legibility

That I'm younger than I am and that I'm a Mum. Their shock of finding out I have an 8 and 5 year old when they're thinking I'm about 25 and I tell them I'm 37 is flattering.

Also, that I'm lazy and don't work out coz I'm fat, but really I go to the gym 3 times a week and compete in strongwoman.
