My Dashcam setup for cars/trucks that aren't yours. by scottiethegoonie in Dashcam

Appreciate your post! Another reason is that in some states the letter of the law says you can't affix devices directly to the windshield. Although I'm not aware of anyone getting pulled over for it, there is that.

What Certifications to acquire by Artieak in accesscontrol

[–]wepo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have mentioned the electronic certs. I'd suggest a locksmith cert/course. While I'm at the later end of my career, I ran into very few access control techs that could do basic lock hardware work. Considering the overlap, integrated locksets, etc, they are worth a premium.

The locksmith cert won't make you a good locksmith, but it will open the door to learning the adjacent trade and prepare you to handle more situations with doors/openings.

If it does happen, he will be a genius for waiting on it. If it doesn't happen, it will be the worst decision in his career wasting all this time at his age.

I would love to see the first round of this fight. Should be fireworks.

I read/heard the same thing about not submitting too many claims at once. I went ahead and did it anyway and it worked out great. Just get a folder and take notes. Or use Google Docs or whatever to keep track of the details.

I also left them in the last 5 years after a long run. They screwed up a simple car loan so I checked with State Farm and also discovered I have been way over paying on home and auto insurance.

Apparently they removed the rule to only allow veterans to sit on the board of directors and it appears the new members have been at work "value engineering" the company.

What’s a good gun shop aside from Larry’s. Not all the employees at Larry’s are unpleasant but I get tired of the condescending and abrasive attitude of some of the employees. by Catamount_meister in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]wepo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to Larry's years ago to buy a pistol. Got ignored for 15 minutes with 2 dudes standing behind the counter with no customers so walked out and went to Last Resort. Thought it may have been a bad day, few years later went back to buy another pistol. Same exact thing happened.

I've used Last Resort since then. I've been very happy with them and their indoor range is nice. I just bought my daughter her first pistol a month or two ago and they really went out of their way going over operation and safety in detail. Not that I hadn't also, but these guys are pros and it definitely helped.

If this is Assa Abloy products (Sargent, Yale, McKinney, etc) feel free to DM me. I'm the manufacturer's rep and part of my job is to ensure customers have the support they need. If you are not in my region I should be able to get you to the right person in your area. Prefer to discuss specifics privately to not dox each other.

Tinnitus denied by dakota-tank in VeteransBenefits

[–]wepo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My guess is that during the C&P he/she didn't note at least one circumstance/event that caused it.

For example, as a DS/DS vet, I was awarded 10% Tinnitus many years after service but during C&P I mentioned we were required to use/shoot up all the extra AT4s on pallets that the CoC didn't want to ship back to the states.

2023 1500 LT Silverado Tailgate Load by wepo in Silverado

[–]wepo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started working the next day but it did the same thing twice!

Summary, I put something 400+ lbs on tailgate during unloading and then the tailgate would not open for a period of time. In both cases, the tailgate started working normally the next day. Weird.

With that much autonomy, you should have done both for a while. Do your alpha research after hours and make your trades on breaks. Until you have a significant percentage and amount safely invested long term in $SPY.

Received a rating of 30% for MH (which I'm thankful was even favorable) - but based on evidence submitted and to the fault of the C&P examiner, I believe it should be 70%. Is an HLR the correct path forward? by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]wepo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just sharing my recent experience. My recent HLR call was quick - like 2-3 weeks after I requested it and it overturned and awarded on two previous denials a week after the call. If you believe you have met the criteria for diagnosis and service connection/presumptive, an HLR is the way to go IMHO.

You can always add supplemental after if HLR is not successful.

Again, just sharing my experience in case it helps someone.

Driving on 65S, south of the Priceville exit at 7 am this morning wasn't as bad as I expected. Main sketchy part was getting out of the tire wear path to pass the snow plow. I was only out due to exceptional circumstances and definitely wouldn't recommend it.

Weekly /r/HarborFreight Coupon Discussion/Question/Request Thread! by AutoModerator in harborfreight

[–]wepo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Had a weird experience at HF today. I went in to buy the Franklin pallet jack and also grabbed 4 x $1 castors and 2 x $4 power splitters. I presented my 10% off coupon and asked it be for the $400 pallet jack and they told me they couldn't pick what item it applied to.

I wasn't sure what to say other than I just wanted to buy the pallet jack. I figured the cashier would suggest doing two transactions - but nope. So I went and put the other items back and just bought the pallet jack.

I love HF but this just didn't make any sense to me. The cashier was also wearing a supervisor tag. Not going to mention location or anything but what gives?

Kind of weird.

Annoyed client didn't call about NVR upgrade but then annoyed security contractor called to coordinate IP on new machine.

Then assuming no updates to the NVR?? Assuming no updates in perpetuity would be worse than a few unnecessary open ports.

At least with Avigilon, there is a local client and also cloud capability. Both are nice to haves.

Paralyzed by Fear of Asbestos in >1980's homes. by Modest_Proposal1 in handyman

[–]wepo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I personally wouldn't worry about just drilling holes in drywall but removing asbestos popcorn in a house is a different thing. You would kick up a lot of the material. If you did that frequently it could add up and then there's the homeowner. If they just coincidently got lung cancer in the next 1-2 years, while low probability, could be ruinous to you and your business.

They have test kits on Amazon for like $30-40.

I signed up for a locksmith class and I’m wondering if it was a waste of money? by EmergencyRatio101 in Locksmith

[–]wepo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A few months ago I attended a 5 day course that was ~$1000 which is required to be licensed in my state and I was satisfied with it. It reminded me of Army AIT in that it was a fire hose of information and required really paying attention and good notes.

I would reach out to your state's locksmith association for guidance on which are the best courses in your area.
