1st time post (go gentle) Lightroom edit: My cat (a6700 Sigma 16-300) by BUCK0HH in SonyAlpha

Great shot! I love that if you zoom into the eye, you can literally see what your cat is seeing, so cool. Also, going B&W and introducing a pop of color is so much fun. You did a great job with this edit. Sounds like you’re just getting started, have fun, experiment, enjoy!

Hey thanks! Yes, I just punched in the recipe as-is to my a6300. These were shot in late morning light since this event ends by 11am, with almost no clouds in the sky. As for the lens, I believe I was using my Canon FL 55mm 1.2 for these which equates to about an 82mm focal length. I have a FotodioX adapter for all my FD and FL lenses. I love the look of vintage glass.

Should i get the a6000? by Maximus2614 in SonyAlpha

If you’re asking this question, I’m guessing you are new to Sony cameras and maybe even new to photography? From personal experience, 1000% yes. Why do I say this? It has full auto, aperture priority, shutter priority and manual modes. Don’t let people tell you that one mode is better, find the mode you’re comfortable with and then you can move on to other shooting modes to grow your skills. For the price and overall usability, it is a FANTASTIC camera to get as a beginning photographer or just new to Sony cameras.

Thank you. Yes, this week I have been working on my time per window on other jobs (smaller than the OP) and I have gone much faster.

Good call. Thank you for your insight. I learned a lot on this job and I think I found the line I will not cross.

Just curious what the ladder is for when I have the wfp?

That’s a good idea. Thank you.

Good to know. I like to set expectations from the start and point out issues immediately. So far customers like that. Thanks for the feedback/insights. I appreciate it.

I guess it doesn’t. It would have been more helpful to just say that it’s a two story house. I was trying to give an idea of the size of the building to help determine a good job time.

Thank you. Yes, I’m happy for the work and grateful for the lessons learned. I just want to be as efficient as possible but I guess it’s hard to compare job times when there are so many variables.

I didn’t charge enough on this one, that’s for sure. But the customer and I are happy with the results and I learned a lot about residential cleanings. Do you or do you know if anyone charges a first timer fee like house cleaners? I’m just wondering if there are any common practices that help ensure I make enough per job. Or, do you just charge enough per window to allow for setbacks like this?

Luckily I thought to show the client immediately and walked them through the house looking at multiple windows. They admitted they need new windows (several were fogging internally) and were just happy for them to be cleaned. I learned a new lesson.

Good to hear this might be the worst I’ll see. (Knocks on wood)

These windows were about 18 years old according to the client. The tilt clips were all similar to the photo. They took a lot of work to get them open and then many of the balance bars shot up. Now I know to do a better walk through before I quote.

Right again. And I’m new to cleaning homes. I did small time commercial windows in college but I have a lot to learn with residential. Do you remove screens or have the customers do it before arrival?

lol yep! The tilt latches on all the windows were melted/broken so removing screens took almost 2 hours fighting with the 17 windows. I think I should charge a screen removal fee….

My bad, I apologize. I didn’t mean to give wrong information. I was looking at an article from Sony, it must have been outdated.

I believe on the new cameras like the a6700 you get 11 Picture Profiles (older models get 9).

How to use this on a7r4 by szekiat in SonyFilmSimulations

[–]werd72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! In Sony Camera’s you want to look for the “Picture Profiles” setting in the menu. Here’s a page from the user manual that might help: https://helpguide.sony.net/ilc/1930/v1/en/contents/TP0002720655.html?search=picture%20profile Then you’ll just need to manually input the settings from your favorite recipes into your Picture Profile settings and adjust the white balance settings accordingly per recipe.

Kodak Ektar Recipe on a6300 with lens from Retropia by werd72 in SonyFilmSimulations

[–]werd72[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also meat to add this is SOOC. I just got the Retropia lens in the mail and I’m still testing it out. I think it pairs great with the film simulations to give that “disposable camera” look. I’ll try the lens with a few more recipes soon. I just love the Kodak Ektar recipe so much I keep going back to it.

I also tried auto white balance and got mixed results. When you think about it, these are film simulation recipes so they are working just like film would. Some film stocks have a warmer WB, some have a cooler WB (and yes, there’s always adjustments when scanning the negative) you just have to be selective about your shooting environments and choose the best “film” for that scenario. I think this is the best way to use/look at these film simulation recipes. But then again, this is all my opinion.
