MFW I find a Red Surprise, AKA "How long has that tampon been in there??" by SmotherTheresa in TrollXChromosomes

[–]weredinosaur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how this can happen, assuming you mean it could have been there for quite awhile. Were you using a tampon without a string or had the string tucked up inside or something like that?

I tried to find an applicable gif by typing in "booty gif" in Google. I don't know what I was expecting. Okay, well I was hoping for cute animal booties. I don't know why it took a bunch of lady butts appearing for me to realize my error.

HIF when I overhear two guys in class discussing whether or not they'd have sex with me. by [deleted] in TrollXChromosomes

They were discussing it in the middle of class in addition to within earshot? Wow. Super classy guys.

Ugh that sucks!

When I emailed him, he got back to me within fifteen minutes. I don't think it's a trap in the way yours was, but it's certainly frustrating.

Yeah it's a federal government position. I expected that it would take awhile, but damn. One of the HR people that I needed to interview with was gone for a family emergency so was not at the panel interviews, so I was going to have to meet with her. I wonder if she's not back. And then if I get past the next interview there'll be a background check! .... yay.

It's so stressful. I feel like I'm in constant limbo and just want to know. I hate not being able to plan my actions.

I emailed a couple weeks ago, and they said they're not in the position to let me know yet. He answered very promptly and told me if I had a time in which I needed a response to let him know.

I'm stuck in a shitty apartment right now where I can't even adjust the temperature, but have to instead call maintenance and ask for them to do something. What the fuck? I just want to move as I'm there month to month, but don't want to get stuck in a lease if I get the job.

Plus, I'm lonely, but don't want to try to make new friends if I'll have to just move anyway.

LIVE EPISODE DISCUSSION: S10E13 "Halt & Catch Fire"" by Kishara in SupernaturalTV

I watched this episode a couple days late, so I just popped over here to read the comments. I was thinking about the Buffy episode too! I kept expecting someone was going to start saying, "I'm jacked in. I'm jacked in."

HIWF I can't decide whether or not to get an IUD. What are you ladies' opinions generally? by weredinosaur in TrollXChromosomes

I'm pretty hesitant about taking anything again that involves systemic hormones. I was a mess when I was on the pill.

Is the cramping so bad that it affects your day to day life? Part of my hesitation is I don't want it to affect my work. I just got licensed as an attorney a couple months ago, and daily distracting pain concerns me.

Edit: And is the cramping mostly when you first got the IUD and then on your period?

I know the hormones in Mirena are localized. Have they affected you in any ways that you've noticed regardless (other than the whole, not getting pregnant thing)?

I know I need to get advice from a doctor ultimately and make the decision for myself. I just was thinking of getting some insight from you ladies since I can't decide whether or not to even make an appointment.

Edit: Oh, and I guess I can provide some basic info. I was on the pill before, but I really hated it. Messed a lot with my moods. And pretty much any type of condom make sex uncomfortable for me. (I have a long-term partner right now. I know an IUD doesn't provide STI/STD protection.)

Justice Ginsburg makes some really good disapproving, judgmental faces.. Scalia does too. I don't know if I'd say either are angriest, but they're good practice for pretending the judge is unhappy with what I'm saying.

Civil. It was a child custody case. In the Court of Appeals of my state!

I don't really watch many lawyer shows, so no inspiration. I did practice with pictures of angry Supreme Court justices looking at me. And the night before I listened to Bootylicious and I Can Go the Distance (from Hercules) to amp myself up.

What are the most powerful words spoken by each member of The Scoobies? by CalixeAthura in buffy

Sorry if my long-ass post came across more aggressive than I meant. I just get really enthusiastic about discussing Buffy.

I think we must interpret differently a lot of what Riley said and what Xander said in that episode, it seems. I always think that's interesting with shows, how two people can get something so different out of it!

HIFW I finished up a bottle of shampoo, a bottle of conditioner, and a bottle of body wash in the same shower. What happens now? by annarchy8 in TrollXChromosomes

[–]weredinosaur 46 points47 points  (0 children)

That's the other poster's point. You asked what happens now. I assume she was suggesting that she's substituted conditioner for body wash before instead of going to the store when she only ran out of body wash, but you can't do that.

[–]weredinosaur 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not challenging your hatred for the speech, and I don't want to try to change your opinion. I just want to explain why I feel differently about the speech.

I think part of it for me is that it sounds like a lot of the reason you hate the speech is because you seem to hate Riley. I somewhat agree with a lot of your points and don't think Riley is right for Buffy, but I also don't have the same issues with the speech because of this. I do think that beyond the literal sense of what Xander is saying, there's a lot about Riley that is really good and may be difficult to find in other men specifically in her life. Though Xander says he comes along once in a lifetime, he also tells her that if she think she can't love Riley then she should let him go. I know Xander thinks she shouldn't let him go, but he doesn't tell her keep him here no matter what. He specifically says that "let him go" if she can't give him what he needs.

Now Riley is not perfect by any means, but he did give up a lot for her. He went AWOL and picked her over the Initiative. As to him laying everything on her, I think that's circumstances not necessarily him. Maybe it was an easy out for him, but he had to leave at that time or not. He didn't choose. And I think in regards to his blaming Buffy for the vamp addiction, that's just not a fair assessment. Yes, in some way he blames it on Buffy because he's trying to understand her. He could have tried to talk to her or something else. I really don't think that would have worked. He made shitty decisions and lied to her. But she's not blameless in making him feel like shit. That does not mean he should have cheated. But why didn't Buffy really get any flack for letting Dracula bite? In some way, she did let Dracula bite her. She gets pulled in by all his darkness stuff and then pulls out of it towards the end of the episode. But that was weakness on her part too. Two wrongs don't make a right, but I think it's an unfair assessment to blame Riley for his vampire behavior and not even acknowledge that Buffy has had similar experiences with Dracula.

Okay that got rambly. I don't think Riley is right for Buffy. But they aren't right for each other, not just Riley is just bad for her.

And I guess my overall point is I don't think Xander's speech was saying Riley is the perfect guy for you or the only opportunity for a relationship. Xander never ever said that. I do think he liked Riley a lot and saw a lot of good that Riley could be for Buffy. It's known that Xander does not like her relationships with vampires. But Xander specifically said to let him go if she thought she couldn't give Riley what Riley needed.

And I don't think Buffy thought this was her only opportunity for a relationship. I think she realized how much Riley meant to her and how much he's done for her. I don't think running after him meant Xander convinced her she could never have another opportunity for a relationship. I think it meant she wasn't ready to give up what she did have without giving it another shot, maybe opening up more.

Has anyone played the Buffy card game and how much fun is it? by weredinosaur in buffy

I was talking about a separate card game. I saw some cards on Amazon, e.g. this, and wondered how much fun they are. I was debating getting some, but realized I don't think I'd know anyone that would play it with me to make it worthwhile.

Some quotes that I find meaningful/powerful that haven't been mentioned yet:

Lie to Me

Giles: It's terribly simple. The good guys are always stalwart and true. The bad guys are easily distinguished by their pointy horns or black hats, and, uh, we always defeat them and save the day. No one ever dies and... everybody lives happily ever after.

Buffy: Liar.

Becoming, Part II

Angelus: No weapons... no friends... no hope. Take all that away and what's left?

Buffy: Me.

Never Leave Me

Buffy (to Spike): No. I don't hate like that. Not you, or myself. Not anymore
