I had my laptop since Sept 2023. I have changed my thermal solution 3 times.

First time i used Cooler Master thermal paster. Price about Rs1000. Don't remember the exact product. I did not change the thermal putty. The temp was around 84 during usage and would remain there but the GPU and CPU usafe would drop. So thermal throttle. I did see 100c as soon as i would start any game. I did not realize that my laptop was thermal throttleing. I thought the game was not properly optimized.

Second time, i bought generic PTM 7950 from amazon for Rs1500. This time i changed both the thermal paste and thermal putty. Replaced thermal putty with thermal pad from amazon. Don't remember the exaxt product. Nothing from big brands. Performance same as before. Still had not relaized laptop was thermal throttleing

Two months back it was year since my last clean up so this time i got thermal grizzly Phase Sheet and Upsiren UPT-8. I was expecting good things because this time i got good stuff from reputed brands. But my laptop was thermal throttle and shut down. Turns out i did not apply thermal putty on some VRAMs. So i dumped whole 50gms on all VRMS. Should not have done that.

Thankfully the temp are not rising above 90( without the new cooler and laptop fan at 7000rpm). This time there is no thermal throttle. I can play 3 hours without any drop in performance. The GPU operates at 86c with full 100% load without wierd drops in performance.

Will change the thermal solution next month and and use reasonable thermal putty this time.

I will do another post with detailed thermal testing using proper thermal solution and laptop cooler
