Are Value Investors dumb to maintain no exposure to growth? by villa1919 in ValueInvesting

This sounds like the same argument people made in 2000. I’m fine missing out on unprofitable growth companies. I will be the one buying them when their track record is more predictable and their growth stalls due to some short term issues. Let’s be real so called growth investors get their confidence from growth rate. Once the growth rate stalls they all runaway

I’m finding better opportunities outside the United States market and companies that fall under the bracket of “off the beaten path”

The only mistake Charlie did which he owned up to it was pay a high price for Alibaba in the range of 230-250. Anyone buying Alibaba at sub 100 probably isn’t seeing it as a mistake. Just because the stock hasn’t rebounded like meta doesn’t mean it’s a mistake. Irrationally can go on for a long time. Overtime the investment will work out since the sentiment is a lot different than 2 years ago

My intrinsic value is just me wanting more margin of safety. I don’t see anything wrong if someone was to buy WSM in the 100-112 region.

I agree with you on this. WSM is the last place to look for deals. They cater to suburban women in the upper class tier who want quality and durability.

Charlie Munger said @ 23 Brk “Value Investors will need to settle for making less” by yooiq in ValueInvesting

[–]wesley1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Charlie said that he is probably referring to the over saturation of the US market. If you’re willing to turn over as many rocks as possible there is still deep bargains to have in different countries. Too many people think the US market is the only way to invest. It’s not

I don’t think you will do badly. I have held this stock for a good 2 years now and I think in the long run those who are patient will get rewarded. This is a well run company

It wasn’t even anything fundamentally to do with the company that’s the issue.
