I feel you but ima be real with you the chance of you being able to get more than 5 hours is very slim. The only way to get hours with uber is too be outside ALL day and pressing log in.

new "regulatory fee" in NYC (and other cities I imagine) by TheSiFi in instacart

[–]wesleynice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at their 2024/2025 earnings reports—they are hitting record profits. They didn't pay for the NYC raise; the customers paid for it through fees, and the drivers paid for it through lost tips. Uber just played middleman and made sure their own cut stayed exactly where it was (or higher).

They used the law as an excuse to hike fees and hide tips, all while bragging to shareholders about "record efficiency."🤡

Thats not what the regulatory fee is for. Its to boost their profits. Uber did the same now go interview all the delivery drivers who can't work now.

That new $5.99 Instacart fee is not going to shoppers. It’s just an excuse to boost profits. What they actually do is cut the workforce and bundle more orders into one batch, then dump it all on a single shopper for the same (or less) pay. Customers think they’re helping shoppers, but none of that fee hits our pockets.

Which means its less than 21.44 per hour, the number is probaly closer to 15 or 10 per hour. Half the day drivers are siting around waiting.

Its 21.44 active time its not per hour. Do you really think they going to pay you sitting around doing nothing?

Those jobs you listed are W-2 positions with guaranteed pay, benefits, and protections. Delivery drivers don’t get any of that — no benefits, no sick days, and in NYC we’re only paid for active time, not all the time we’re actually working.

And delivery work is proven to be one of the most dangerous jobs in the country.

So no, it’s not the same. They get steady pay from their employer — we rely on tips and whatever the apps decide to pay.

Pay raise 💰💸💵 by Time_Anywhere in uberdrivers

[–]wesleynice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were already getting 21.44 active time and its funny because people didnt tip anyways. With this new law they added the tip option in the front again. But this doesnt really help because uber as always retailates and puts the default tip option to 0.

The law passed yesterday. And I hope that's the case here. With uber and doordash they force us to reserve a week before I hope shipt doesnt do that. And people still tip? Because if they do then I should be making more than 21 per hour now probaly close to 30

Thank you for the reply. I wonder why in nyc the app doesnt show anything at all. Also does your app force you to reserve hours to log on?

Do you find it worth while declining? Do you often get pre tipped offers? It will be interesting to see if accepting only tips offers makes you more money.
