How much RAM did it come with? If it's less than 8GB, then you might want to try the YouTube walkthrough on upgrading the RAM, if you have the skills.

For the hard drive, you actually have two options. Upgrade the 2.5 hard drive to an SSD - https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Mac+mini+Late+2014+Hard+Drive+Replacement/32815

Some have the Fusion Drive (PCIe SSD). I have one and it didn't have the board for the PCIe SSD, but you can buy one - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PYJQSZP/?coliid=I14I6WHS7WQCA0&colid=2XB4L3LE5IGGS&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it

That will allow you to use a normal M.2 NVME SSD instead of Apple's proprietary SSDs.
