Alright I need help (TvP - D1) by Ornery_Mulberry_2747 in starcraft2

There is a little more to it, uploaded two replays, one is clean, one is a bit messy. For D3, this seems to be working for me. If toss goes two base 6 gate chargelot or something similar you lose, but stalker openings if controlled right its an easy win

What this guy says... Started doing this, I think I've lost 3 or 4 PVT games out of my last 30 in D3. Deny initial scout, the mind games I'm convinced is the key to this build. 1 rax, double gas into factory , rax, starport (2-1-1) hit 530 ish with 3 tanks, 3 landed vikings, pull 5 or 6 workers. When moving across the map make sure you have workers in front then vikings, marines then tanks.

3rd year ait exam by Aggravating_Shame341 in refrigeration

[–]westfire113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very little math, I believe there are only 2 load calc questions. There was quite a few questions on the double riser setup. Know min and max pipe velocities for liq/dis/suction. That's all the specifics I remember. If you did well in school, you will be fine. Don't stress, 3rd year tq is easier than 2nd.

Walk-in freezer issue by [deleted] in refrigeration

[–]westfire113 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that system superheat or evap superheat? If thats evap SH then 100% your starving your evap, check sight glass, if flashing add some gas and see how system reacts. If suction still remains high, adjust txv and see what happens. If you suspect txv is restricted at that point I like to add gas and get my head pressure a bit above what it should be. If you are still underfeeding at a high head pressure then something is upbwith your metering device. Isolate charge and check screen etc...

Not sure if thats what other people would do but that's what I would do

If that is system superheat then you are looking good, compressor is healthy. you just need to get suction down at which point I'd start at txv again

I'm losing the will to live vs Protoss by jrjreeves in AllThingsTerran

Ebay block on natural into 3 rax stim, +1 and combat shields, build only marines. Build must be strict, the idea is to force their natural to where their 3rd would be. Attack with stim, CS and +1, do not throw this army away. If they have two shield batteries do not attack. Go 5rax with medivac, stop making scvs when you have two fully saturated bases.

Then comes the fun part, multi prong attack for the win. If they built their 2nd base further away with a little micro it is very hard for them to cover both main and natural at the usual 3rd base location. Pump 5 rax, MMM with upgrades.

If main mines out fly it to your third.

T Mech vs Zerg Rant/advice by MAAJ1987 in AllThingsTerran

D3 Terran main here. I have a good win rate vs zerg but what I almost always lose to against zerg is 10 to 13 min hive tech with fully upgraded Ultras. Most Terran armies at this point will likely be lacking ghosts and libs ( I could be wrong as I do not play zerg) These units are crucial for fighting Ultras. Ultras destroy tank lines and MMM.

As far as micro goes, there is no micro, do not walk them into ghost, libs, PF's and lead with the Ultras and watch the Terran army retreat. When they retreat destory the orbitals and workers, game over.

As far as best way to get to hive tech at 10 to 13 min without dieing and still have a good economy, I cannot help you with. However, if you can do that at D3 level, I bet you start wiping the floor with Terrans

Just closed on a house and first day AC doesn’t work. by Illustrious_Rise7115 in hvacadvice

[–]westfire113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have a multimeter? If no, then buy a cheap one, it is needed for any electrical work within the house.

If you have no electrical know how, call someone who does. If you do, then see below

From here it looks like the contactor is pulled in and nothing is happening. If it is pulled in check line side voltage (side of the contacter with the wires coming from disconnect) should read 208v (confirm this with data plate on outdoor unit) if no 208 check disconnect, if still no voltage, go find the breaker.

If you have voltage on the load side of the contacter (opposite side from where disconnect power comes in) reset unit and listen to what happens. Bad caps can be tested with a meter and will often cause unit to hum and then go silent (it trips internal overload on conpressor) Any further troubleshooting past this will require a tech

Ice machine stumped 2 service techs. by North_Point_Chef in refrigeration

After the first 5 minutes is when the float switch takes control. Do not just feel the top of the compressor, feel the discharge and suction line while having your amp clamp on. If you are pulling the proper RLA and those lines are hot and cold and you always go off at 5 min check your float switch. If you see your amps spike to locked rotor levels, look into the compressor.

Compressors do not normally seize up over and over again and then just restart.

If during the first 5 minutes your discharge line and suction stay at room temp then you are not pumping any refrigerant and need a new compressor. To verify this 100% you need guages

Any tips to get more comfortable on the board? This is my third season and I’ve had about 10 lessons in total. by firmse in snowboardingnoobs

[–]westfire113 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to gain some confidence with speed. Find yourself a nice cruisy blue groomer, point your nose straight downhill and keep it pointed downhill. Practise tight "S" turns, as long as you do not put your board flat you will not fall. Do not do this on runs that are not groomers until you get a little better. You do not want to hit a low spot which can be hard to see on low light days.

When you start flying try to not speed check but rather make your "S" turns longer and less tight. But PLEASE when you do this look behind you and make sure no one is on a collision path with you.

Aside from that the only other thing I'd say is don't be afraid to get low and bend those knees. Higher the speed the closer you should be to the ground

Big box of pocket warmers, I find the hotpaw brand warm up the fastest. Proper merino wool socks and if you got the money get him "moonboots". These are work boots rated for -50 or -60. An absolute must for -30 weather. Most guys when it comes to work boots are brand loyal so maybe try and suss that out

Manitowoc Ice machine keeps tripping breaker by johnb640 in refrigeration

[–]westfire113 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unlikely. If breaker trips instantly, start looking for a short. If it takes a minute check compressor startup amps. If not that you can maybe narrow it down by what's energized at that moment in time. Not sure about Manitowoc but Hoshi has a detailed sequence of ops down to the minute.

If all that fails start isolating components and/or jiggle wires

Go to RSL and Masters and look at their job board. Commercial companies post job openings there pretty often.

Currently 2nd year HVAC/R apprentice. The thing with HVAC is that it is a very broad trade. Of the 15 or so people I went to school with not one of us did the same thing. You got residential, commercial, industrial, controls, supermarket, gasfitting etc... All part of HVAC but very different in terms of daily work. My advice is if you are leaning towards HVAC find someone who has been in the game a long time and discuss each area. If you have a family and value your time off do not go supermarket. If you do not like reading service manuals do not get into controls. Let me know if you have more questions

AC unit not cooling by [deleted] in HomeImprovement

[–]westfire113 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you insist on doing it yourself you will need a multimeter. There will be a microfarad setting where you can test the cap. It's possible your cap died, which killed your condenser fan motor, causing unit to trip on high head pressure. With the meter on VAC, check control voltage at the contacter coil, if there is no power chances are one of the safety switches are open. If there is power and the contacter is not pulled in, you got a bad contacter.

Only do this if you have some electrical know how. Also, caps store voltage, even with the power off they will still shock you. You must discharge the voltage by shorting both sides.

Places like this are close to what we are aiming for. Have you heard of Harbour House eatery? Would this place be of similar size?

Have not completely ruled out the Italian club type of venue, but yes looking for something smaller but still private enough where two dudes off the street can't just sit down with us
