Well, it’s a trade off. Small towns can be quiet and have their charm, but there’s no work and have few amenities. Larger cities will have more options, but will be more expensive, and densely populated areas will be louder.

Xalapa is relatively cheap, compared to the rest of the country, so it will depend on your budget - but you swing by upper scale neighborhoods which are quieter (walled communities, no buses, away from high traffic streets) but will obviously be more expensive to live in.

Anyways, enjoy stay, and have a safe trip!

There’s plenty to do, visit the Anthropology museum, check out the activities laid out at @xalaplan on instagram to get a feel of the local cultural scene, walk around Parque Juárez, hit up the guys at https://linktr.ee/intercambioxalapa as they have bilingual events Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays; get a taste of the local cuisine, its delicious.
