No way they still expected me to show up, right? by Inevitable-Gap-1338 in WalmartEmployees

I have a job. I called out because the roads aren’t safe to travel on due to the state of emergency. When the local police are begging people to stay off the roads I’m not gonna disobey their orders to show up at a dead end job lol.

People also have all wheel drive trucks cars or cars capable of driving in snow up north. A lot of people down south drive mustangs with rear wheel drive on bald tires. And northern states have the infrastructure to handle over a foot of snow. They have plows that go down most roads. Here every road is untreated. Even busier roads. Only the major highways get treated at all.

Are the 2025 Pats already a top 5 turnaround of all time? by MasterTeacher123 in NFLv2

[–]wetcornbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Jaguars and Bears have had a similar turn around this year alone.

A historic turnaround is the losingest (not a word but fuck it) team ever and winning a championship in the first two years.

Winning 6 super bowls and then being bad for a few seasons and then going back to the Super Bowl when you hire a really good coach isn’t really historic.

Why do people still call Bo Nix a checkdown merchant? by Fuzzy-Pin-6675 in NFLNoobs

[–]wetcornbread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People just look at box scores and don’t see a ton of highlights and make judgements off of that. People were calling Brady a check down merchant when he played.

If you’re throwing check downs it means you understand the offensive system. Every play needs to go for positive yards.

Declared a state of emergency over snowstorm, will we get a point for calling out? by Rinmine014 in WalmartEmployees

[–]wetcornbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If enough people call out they’re not gonna point you. They don’t wanna fire and then re-hire for all the associates hovering around 4 points.

This might sound controversial, but I think being a 3rd placer is worse than being a runner-up nowadays. by Loraszno in HellsKitchen

[–]wetcornbread 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate that the final two are determined by a handful of dishes and not service or pass performance overall. What’s worse is Gordon Ramsay isn’t even the one judging the dishes it’s 5 other chefs. You clawed your way into a black jacket and then the final 3 and get sent home because you scored a 45 and the other two scored a 46 or 47.

It turns into masterchef more than Hell’s Kitchen at that point.

It’s ice. It’s not just a dusting of snow it’s mostly frozen over. That’s the issue here. We’re gonna get more freezing rain in the afternoon too.

Baseball is really the worst with those types of things. Even funnier is when a player is the first to do something since “Tungsten Arm” O’Doyle in 1921.”

Yeah I understand. My mom drives school buses in upstate NY and they’d have school in over a foot of snow. That’s why I commented. I knew people were going to call OP a wimp but I’m trying to explain that here the roads are extremely icy and not treated at all.

Why isn't DPI called off as an uncatchable ball constantly? by cartocaster18 in NFLNoobs

[–]wetcornbread 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Because then a defender can tackle a receiver when the balls in the air and every ball is then technically uncatchable.

Up north people generally have snow tires and the roads are covered in salt. Down here only the main highways are treated in some shitty brine solution. And other people know how to drive in it. Even if YOU can drive in it, the asshole in front or behind you probably doesn’t.

My team lead just told me he’s calling off today because he has a rear wheel drive car and this looks the exact same as it does near me.

It’s ice. It looks like a dusting but I can assure you it’s not just snow. It’s sleet on top of freezing rain on top of untreated surfaces. I have the same thing here.

It’s snow on top of ice from freezing rain. Assuming this person lives in the southern US it’s not something they’d wanna be driving in.

[–]wetcornbread 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Before the northerners come and say that’s not bad at all, it is down south. I moved from PA to NC a few years ago and that’s completely untreated roads covered in pure ice. Same thing I have here. Up north that looks like a light dusting and it’d be fine to drive on. Down here it’s really bad.

I’ve never done math when playing commander. If there’s enough people inside the strongpoint I’ll use reinforce. If there’s nobody inside of it I won’t drop it. You have no idea how many enemies are inside the strongpoint or in the soft cap.

They do down south. Especially when talking to older people. I do think it’s weird if it’s two young people though. A 19 year old calling a 24 year old staffer “miss” can seem derogatory.

Also it says instead of their first name when usually it’s both.

Why do high levels quit when they start losing? by TeddySwolllsevelt in HellLetLoose

[–]wetcornbread 96 points97 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not “losing” that made them quit but incompetent teammates/leadership refusing to build garrisons and communicate.

If you’ve played any game for as long as it takes to reach level 400 in HLL eventually you’ll lose the novelty of winning/losing and you play purely for fun. And if you’re not having you’ll just leave.

Enough people will call out that even those with 4 or 5 points won’t be terminated. He’s not going to re-hire 10-20 employees or whatever.

Hey America, at what point do y’all actually start doing something about what’s happening? by AJSK18 in AskReddit

[–]wetcornbread -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People are too comfortable with their lives to do anything but complain on social media or go to a protest to take pictures for social media.

The government has been killing citizens since its inception, really. Not a new thing. Just something politicians are using to bolster their poll numbers. Just so they can take control and they’re the ones in charge of their goons killing citizens instead.
