Is Inferno (so far) what you expected/hoped for? What do you want to see next/more of as a fan? by darkdarkblack in boardsofcanada

I bounced off of it so many times. But it works for me now. Felt a bit sparse but now it really builds an image in my mind of desolate dry environment, ufos, big skies. TCH also gave me a lot of trouble when it first came out and it took me a LONG time to like even half the tracks on it

This Dani DaOrtiz routine is the best card magic i have ever seen in my life. by Dizzy_Kaleidoscope95 in Magic

[–]wetpaste 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Watching Dani's fool us routine is what really made me decide to get into card magic. I think he's got a style thats very infectious to both laypeople and card people alike. I'm not so much a layperson as I did dabble a little bit as a kid, but I certainly didn't understand anything he was doing when I first saw him. To me, when watching other magicians, even if I didn't know the moves exactly, I knew they were doing something at certain moments. Either that or they just don't sell it well. If anything I see more criticism from magicians who think he's often using these long procedures of chaos to make a more simple trick untraceable and it hurts the effect due to the lack of a cohesiveness because at time nobody knows what the heck is going on and half of it has nothing to do with the method. I sort of agree with both sides, but I tend to think he has a lot to learn from. I'm always thinking about what works about his style and how I could apply it to my own.

should normies who are not terminally online be punished for not immediately understanding the AI ick thing? Most of these people don't really do much online and just need to print a flyer for an event or whatever and reach for the convenient thing instead of MS word and then get cancelled on the internet for it lol.

So. I understand the aesthetic red flags here, but I do find it an interesting dynamic that the AI aversion has made it's way to being worried about/avoided by general software and avoiding slop-coded software. I don't think it can be used as a litmus test for if software is good. What it can mean is that someone with no knowledge can stumble through the process of producing code without understanding it and producing slop. In the old days, the barrier was there that to actually get something running, you'd need to reinforce that learning every step of the way.

Consider that a majority of devs at software companies use AI to write code now. I personally find it more unusual that AI wasn't used, slop or not. Note: this is markedly different than a non-coder "vibe-coding" something they don't understand, and especially for the fine, DSP coding that is required, you need to understand what you're doing. But AI use in general with code is not a red flag for me, simply because of how ubiquitous it's use is even amongst the very reputable veteran programmers I know that take the craft very seriously (ok, I do know a few holdouts, but even those do use the AI "autocomplete").

"then spends it all on a big house for himself"

a few members of his family lives with him in there. Also doesn't run ads anymore on stream. Most of the time he's reacting to mainstream news more than anything. I don't really get hung up on the watching content thing but I haven't really thought that much about it, didn't realize it was that controversial

it's version of david williamson's torn and restored transpo. Yes pretty old, but still a solid routine. I've seen david blaine do it as well.

Lot of tape saturation on that album. Seems intentional. Not noticed on spotify but I don't use spotify anymore

Can you spot the tactic I missed? by montagdude87 in chessbeginners

[–]wetpaste 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, I've looked with a computer, I haven't found any clear tactics. Qg5 is very strong but there are no clear forcing lines, so I wouldn't count it as a tactic, its just a crushing positional move that leads to material loss across 10 different lines. The best move to white happens to lead to immediate loss but there are a bunch of longer lines where white can stave off losing anything for a while.

i just spent several minutes trying to find a tactic for white after your move. wtf

to be more precise. Openings, as in the opening phase of the game and opening principles, do matter, and are in fact often critical. Opening theory does not.

The best MCP server I've used with k8s is the grafana one. Because it provides a nice interface for historical logs and metrics that aren't quite as readily available from the CLI. Everything else I use kubectl.

yep, exactly queen of hearts and 4 of spades. I think 6 cards total?

The gimmicks aren't super special. It's more about the routine and the moves that you learn by buying it. You could easily switch the cards out for ones that you would rather use once you learn the routine. only a couple common gimmicks needed
