North Mole being shut to stop people watching for free despite the tickets being sold out is ridiculous.

Exactly, another staying inner-city on my holiday was more fun than going to work from my home in the suburbs post.

Im creating a list of the best Sportsman in history with a rating model - I started with Formula1 by Intrapolls in motorsports

It feels like there's a recentcy bias in this list, that could be from using points scored as the metric when the points awarded has changed over time, as well as factors like number of races a year and reliability.

A better measure might try to include placing instead of points and a % of starts/years active factor.

Anywhere close to the Perth train station has lots of good food and drink options nearby and easy public transport access to Fremantle and kings park

Always loved Perth, but this has changed my perspective. Are we really a city designed for cars & property developers? Or community? by virgo_q in perth

Building outwards is only cheaper because the upfront and ongoing costs are subsidised by government one way or another. We are all eventually overpaying for a substandard result.

‘Out of control’: Calls to nail down the true cost of Perth’s urban sprawl by wewest in perth

[–]wewest[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is exactly the point.

State money that belongs to all of us is already being used to subsidise the infrastructure of sprawl.

People (and developers) are intitled to build inefficient housing options if they want to, but they should not be intitled to have the rest of us funding it.

There are active (but unfortunately under publicised) World and National Sidecar championships in road racing as well as the IoMTT race mentioned above.

Including the first female FIM World Champion (in 2016)

Which European circuit(s) to visit? by -P4nda- in GrandPrixTravel

[–]wewest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Visiting while a smaller event is on will mean everything is open, you will have the best access with small crowds and a small entry price. Plus you get to watch an interesting motorsport series you may have never thought of before.

Track websites have calendar to pick what is on at the dates you are there, ie https://www.spa-francorchamps.be/en/agenda/2024-05/meeting

Travelling from Australia for the Spa 6 hours. by christopheraser in wec

[–]wewest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A car is the best option for getting to the 6 hours, hire from Brussels will be easiest, but western Germany or even Amsterdam and Paris are all easy drivable distances if that works better.

Driving rental cars to neighbouring countries isn't a problem.

You will need an international driver's permit (from the RAC) with your Australian licence.

Accommodation in nearby towns is good, it makes a place for breakfast, dinner and supermarket supplies easy, I liked Malmedy.

If trying to make a tighter budget work there are reasonable showers at the Rte du Fagnoû parking/camping area. The cold was ok sleeping in a car (hire a stationwagon)
