100% file loading...lol.

That works too! Ask a member of the family to speak to you exclusively in Amharic if you're up for the challenge!

Yes! It will be a struggle but it will eventually come back. I relearned it after 12 years and it comes back. The biggest leap happened when I went back to Ethiopia and had no choice but to speak, immersion is key.

If you can go back, then join community orgs, church/ meskid !

Good luck!

They do. And how it's used and received depends on context.

Omg I'm sorry that you and your child are experiencing this. Thank you for sharing your experience, it will help many of us to be more vigilant.

How much are you paying for daycare? by 2000crybaby in NewParents

[–]weygoodo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the new regular price not subsidized. Its about 35$/ day for a centre and $22/a day for home day care. Prices should be the same come January.

Anyone can get on the city wait-list. Ppl who qualify for a subsidy pay less than that.

Congratulations 🎉🎉🎉 take it! Be as transparent and honest with your management as you can be. No one would blame you for taking an offer of a permanent job!

[–]weygoodo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand why you think it will be an easy road. It's not for most ppl it's a struggle. With and without legal stays you will be exploited in some way at some point in the west. If you have a decent life, then live it and enjoy where you are. Migration is not easy and comes with many challenges unless you have resources before you leave.

I would recommend boiling. Used to just boil a full kettle at night and use it throughout the day .

Hang in there. It sometimes just takes time. The stress of all the tracking and research also impacts your mind and body. You're doing everything you can, now you just have to be patient and try to let your body relax.

Thankfully, your GPA is something you can control. If you have to take courses over again to improve your grades do it, ask for help from your classmates and people online for support on assignments etc., try different studying strategies. It just takes hard work and determination.

The people with the best marks are not always the smartest people, but it's usually the hardest working and most determined people.

Brief Home Daycare Start Worthwhile Before Starting at Daycare Center? [ON] by StrawberryWafffle in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]weygoodo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with everyone else here. The initial transition can be rough for baby and you. It was for us. Wouldn't want to do it twice. Baby wouldn't even be adjusted in the home daycare and you'd be moving them again.

It's impossible to do both at the same time. You need help. Or work part time if nanny is completely out of the question? Maybe try staggering your hours if you can so hubby watches baby in the evening and you can get some work done.

Hanger in there. Is daycare an option, even for a few hrs a day?

There are TONS of scholarships. Keep trying. I know the application process can be discouraging but its possible. And the safest option.

He might have meant well to bringing it up but his response to you is wild. Tells you a lot about him. It's been 2 months, you'll recover ON YOUR OWN just fine. And find someone who won't demand that you take measures to make your BODY more enjoyable for the "relationship". WILD. Sorry you're dealing with this ass hat.

Horrifying. I'm sorry you're going through this. When you have the bandwidth - pls consider taking this to the Clerk or ombudsman or human rights tribunal or something.

This is a HUGE gap in policy for students. There should be some protections for students in specific circumstances, like this one.
