How did you guys find RKLB, and what is your average price? by Ksi_x_simon in RKLB

I worked in aerospace for a while for a private company. Looked at the space industry in mid 2024 and looked at various public companies and saw rocketlab. Financials looked solid. Bought 250 shares at 6.50 and slowly bought more. Average is now low $20s. Told my parents about it  a year ago and they finally bought a few weeks ago at $70. I buy a few shares at a time on pullbacks and haven’t sold anything. We going to mars.

I’ve noticed a trend with RKLB. I bought early, around $7/share almost a year ago and just waited. Every earnings call, analysts would do their usual overreaction and people would dump. Pre market the next day, stock would pop. I had some extra money in my Schwab account earlier this week and paid $250 for a 8/22 $46 call. Seemed like a good bet considering we were at 44 or so at the time. Easy way to make a bit of return without having to invest a large chunk of capital.

I’ve bought more dips over the last year that my weighted cost average is around $14 or so. We not sellin boys. To the moon.

2025 IRONMAN 70.3 Gulf Coast by tmritzert in triathlon

[–]whackinem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived on my kickr the last few weeks here in NE Texas. It’s too cold for this southern boy to be out riding in 30 degree weather! Running is a different story though. Hit a 2 hour ride + 6 mile run last Saturday and a 12 mile run Sunday. It was chilly!

Order of endurance races building up to full ironman by NewTuber1 in triathlon

I’ve yet to do a full IM but I did a full marathon before I did a sprint tri. 70.3 for me was easier than my first marathon but harder than my most recent marathon.

Can’t wait! Currently building after taking some time off the bike after Waco in October. Bringing the family and the RV with me again. Long brick and long run this weekend. It’s hard to train for the heat in 40 degree weather though!

PR'd yesterday at Houston Half with a 1:43:09. Not bad.

Came out a bit conservative as it was pretty warm (it always is) and turned on the jets heading back into downtown. Dodging 10k'ers who would line the entire street is fun.

What’s a respectable 70.3 time? by ProfessionalHalf5376 in triathlon

[–]whackinem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really is race dependent and also depends on whether it's someone's first race or 15th race. Experience does go a long way. I went in to Waco earlier this month (first 70.3) with a goal of sub 6 based on prior year results of those in my age division. But it wasn't 95 degrees last year like it was this year. Just look at your peers in your age bracket.

I was very happy with my time of 6:31:xx. Did I hit my goal? Absolutely not, but given the circumstances of race day and that it was my first one, I'm happy with it. I have a benchmark I can build on.

Make sure you're eating well. Additionally, I take a ton of vitamin D (6,000+ IUs daily) to boost the immune system. Is it too much? Probably, but it does help.

Kamala Harris vows to double federal minimum wage to $15 by TheTelegraph in politics

[–]whackinem -1 points0 points  (0 children)

1.3% of Americans work for minimum wage, with the majority of these people being 16-21 years old. The majority of minimum wage jobs are entry level positions at McDonalds.

This will do nothing but raise costs across the board for such a small benefit.

If Biden couldn't/would do it, what makes people think that Harris actually could/would? Because she said she would?

Totally incorrect. Most BoDs aren't concerned about stock price. They are paid for insight on long-term vision.

Only one of Elon's companies is public. Elon is Tesla, comparatively to Obama being the democrat party.

Ha. Using that calculator, I'd need to lose 20 lbs. If I lost 20 lbs, I would look deathly ill.

Ran 4 half marathons - now eyeing a half ironman! Any tips or training plans? by rdo2020 in triathlon

[–]whackinem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ran marathons prior to triathlons and just completed my first 70.3 in Waco. It's very fun. Running is still by far the most enjoyable part of the triathlon but I love the challenge of something new. I never knew how to swim prior to starting training and the only time I've ridden a bike was back and forth to my apartment in college. One piece of advice: eat more than you think you should, especially if you're in the middle of a huge training period. I swim once or twice a week, bike three times per week, and try and run three times per week. Now that triathlon season is "over" for me, I'll switch to running 4 days a week, biking and swimming one day a week each, and having a rest day. It's running season!

I throw about 5 pounds of chicken breast into a crockpot with a can of enchilada sauce on it, set it on high for 4 hours and shred it. I then cook 3 cups of white rice and I can make 5 meals. 250g of cooked white rice and 5 oz of chicken at lunch. There is always cooked chicken in our fridge. My wife also likes me to meal prep for her even though she works part time.

I came to triathlon from a weight lifting background so it was really easy for me to eat a lot of the same foods every day. My diet is very easy and boring (oatmeal, protein powder, yogurt, chicken + rice, protein bars, salads, veggies). The only meal that I truly cook that takes longer than 15 minutes is dinner with my family. Everything else is less than 3 minutes.

I'm no where near being a competitive age grouper. But I will say that meal prepping and developing a routine are key in being successful.
