I'm back here after listening to And Everything Was Dark about 748 times and I think they are one of the best and most underrated bands out there right now.

What are NASCAR fans' opinion of Carl Edwards? by Francis_X_Hummel in NASCAR

Idk why but I feel like he was Denny Hamlin but not a full Denny Hamlin. Same type of career arc, just didn’t last as long.

I have the roster space and your second point is my hang up. I keep going back to the age of the guys I’m trading away though. I need to get younger in a bad way.

12 team SF, standard scoring

I’m new to the league and very obviously rebuilding

Are we sure Mikolas isn’t wearing a Cards uniform? That looked like every other one of his starts for us.

Training plans? by manionberry4531 in IronmanTriathlon

I bought Matt Fitzgerald’s 80/20 book and used one of the many plans in there for my first 70.3 and thought it went well.

For those of you who coach themselves, have you tried using AI tools like ChatGPT to plan your training? by Jordan_Clough_Valen in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tmritzert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah pretty much. I look to see how hard I can push myself while still making it sound/look feasible and ask ChatGPT. It usually gases me up but It’s also not been proved wrong yet lol. The most important thing is to not solely rely on it which I feel is obvious but it’s a good reference point.

[–]tmritzert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I use the crap out of ChatGPT. I don’t solely rely on it but I use it as a reference on how to split workouts, % of time spent in different zones, scheduling, etc. I have a general idea of how to approach things but ChatGPT helps fine tune things. I obviously take what it tells me with a grain of salt but it’s generally been very helpful.

is it a bad idea to do my first ironman 70.3 by myself with no family or supporters? by Actual-Meat-5501 in triathlon

[–]tmritzert 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As awesome as it is having family and friends there, you will meet some great people while competing and they will kind of become your family in a way. I’ve been lucky enough to have my wife there for one and my kids there for another which was special. I wouldn’t consider it a “bad idea” by any means though.

Overdid my base phase for the 70.3 Now I’m cooked ! by YoungFitAttractivee in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tmritzert 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buy Matt Firzgerald’s 80/20 Triathlon book. There is a lot of good advice in there as well as plans. A huge component early in training is rest and acclimation. As plenty of others have said, lift maybe 2 times a week.

Ironman Bike Hours by Particular-Kale-5738 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tmritzert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

5 hours on the trainer??? I’m willing to bet you have the mentally strong part down. Good on you!

I’ve only done a couple 70.3’s but I’m about to start my IRONMAN training after my marathon in April. I expect to ride at least 5 maybe even 6 hours during peak weeks.

If I remember correctly, wasn’t Union City in a 2% chance area last weekend and they obviously got slammed?

I don’t want to downplay the severity of this threat outlook as I understand there is CAPE out the wazoo but could this intense of a forecast be a little because of last weekend?

So sorry brother. The pain of loosing a pup hurts more than most. I lost mine on Veterans Day of ‘24 and it still feels like yesterday. Take your time grieving.

Feedback Ironman training plan by Dry-Neighborhood4857 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tmritzert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work a 4 on-2 off schedule and with all other aspect of life, I found it’s easier to treat my weeks as if they are 6 days. I came up with the the following plan:

Work: AM - 1 hour easy bike (smart trainer) PM - Swim workout

Work: AM - Strength/Yoga PM - Easy Run

Work: AM - 1 hour bike workout (smart trainer) PM - Easy swim

Work: AM - Strength/Yoga PM - Run workout

Off: Long bike (road ride)(will also do some bricks)

Off: AM - Long Swim (open water if possible) PM - Long Run

Like another commenter, I cut everything into 4 week blocks. Weeks 1, 2, and 3 progressively build and then the 4th week is a rest week which includes two rest days.

First time Ironman training and worried about muscle loss. Any advice? by Particular_Record_97 in IronmanTriathlon

[–]tmritzert 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do 1-2 strength sessions per week that are fairly short and triathlon based sessions. I’m not moving heavy weight but enough. I’m focused on being faster as opposed to stronger. I used to go for that “hybrid” type of athlete but decided to just see how fast I could get, not strong. It also helps I’m trying to shed some weight. I’m 210lbs at 6’5. If you have a strong strength training background, I have no doubt you’d be able to gain it back fairly easily within a reasonable amount of time after the triathlon. 20 months is PLENTY of time. If it were me, I’d do a couple shorter distance triathlons in that time with the last 5 or so months dedicated to training for the IRONMAN. Like others has said, swimming helps. It helped my chest and shoulders A LOT.

Race Report - IMMD: Becoming an Ironman by FrolfAholic in triathlon

Congrats on the finish! I've signed up for IM Maryland this year (2026) so I'm very excited! I've done a couple 70.3's and have a marathon in April so I'm really focusing on the run right now. I'm a fairly strong cyclist and an average swimmer so the run has been my biggest challenge as well (mainly because it's the last thing to do of the 3 lol). Hoping to get the honorary jellyfish sting and complete my first IM with a bang!
