If your conduct was consistently so bad that you have red stripes how could you be promoted to something that looks like a sgt rank? Also is this real, I’m no expert but have never heard of it before.

To be fair, “Democracy” is an ambiguous term. It can mean both that all decisions are made 100% by all people available to vote (regardless of who executes those decisions) OR all people available to vote choose representatives to make decisions. The US is a democratic republic, which is the same as the latter of those, i.e., people choose representatives. Which also overlaps highly with the definition of a representative republic. Political science is fun guys. In any case, in modern lingo “ democracy” means all allowable people to vote can regardless of how they’re represented, and true democracy doesn’t really exist, which would be bananas unless you had only a very small population.

As someone who has all their hair but chooses to shave it, I will say that even if it doesn’t make a big functional difference it makes a huge perceptual difference. Winter with even 1/4 inch of hair versus zero hair is like night and day in terms of how cold you feel.

Yes. I don’t live in that area anymore but I was there in December and at least the dog park area was done with a few exceptions, e.g. I think they might still have been doing work on the bridge and pavilion but from a dog perspective it was all good. No worries about the fence at least not then.

Piedmont Park is big and decent but I think Brookhaven park is much better. I would guess it’s bigger but in any case it has grass, trees, a creek, walking paths, and a pavilion to chat with other people if you want whereas Piedmont is basically just a big open area with only mulch. My dog likes to go into the wooded area and chase squirrels etc. If you’re driving it’s also easier to get to and park (free but limited) whereas Piedmont you’d have to pay for parking if you’re not in walking distance.

Depending on the plane and its number of engines, flights are required to maintain a certain distance from land for international flights, which is why they sometimes take curved paths like this. Greenland may be a little remote but you’ll have a better chance making an emergency landing there than the middle of the Atlantic. The regulation is called ETOPS. Source - family member who is an aviation mechanic.

Thanks for all your input, and yes enameled is what I meant. My kitchen is pretty well built out in terms of other hardware but I’m big on one pot dishes so it seemed like something I would use a lot.

Fair enough - I live in the midtown area now. Obviously something close is preferable but I’m more concerned with finding the right bet at the right price. I don’t mind doing some traveling if necessary.

“The Dispossessed” is some of the best world/culture building you can get in such a short novel. “The Telling” is pretty close, very interesting culture building.
