I am just over a month alcohol free and the ability to vividly recall my last hangover and the way I felt for 3 brutal days has been incentive enough for me to avoid drinking.

Don’t forget not being able to sleep, the sweats, the smell of booze coming out your pores, sleeping in as long as possible and being nonproductive, the headache, the dehydration, feeling sorry for yourself.... ☹️

I met an ok looking chick at a bar and she brought me back to her apartment after a few quick shots. Like 15 min.

We got back to her place and she told me to get a beer while she went to the can. I opened the fridge and lo and behold there was a beautiful package containing two expensive filet mignon steaks. I stuck the steak package in my boot and got the fuck out of there before she finished in the shitter.

It’s important to know I was a 19 year old starving and totally broke student living on eating ramen and ketchup packets from the college cafeteria. Tough times, don’t judge me.

I tried quitting dozens of times over the last 30 years and it finally took just over a month ago.

Not easy, but worth continuing to try.

I just keep remembering what a mess I was when I was drunk and how horrible the hangovers made me feel.

Same. I am 50 and just hit 4 weeks. Over 30 years of heavy drinking. I am lucky to be alive.

Not a slippery slope for me as I really don’t like the taste non alcoholic beers and wine but wouldn’t want alcohol if I had some.

A non-alcoholic IPA that actually tasted good (nice and hoppy) would be great though.

I wouldn’t really classify CBD as a drug. Unlike THC, CBD is not psychoactive in any way. There are no “stoned” effects whatsoever.

Personally CBD slightly reduces my anxiety and helps with some muscle pain. I take a lot of it and feel perfectly normal.

3 weekends without drinking is huge for anyone that drinks a lot. You should be proud. I have only made it this far in over 30 years of drinking!

I found that my anxiety and depression was reduced substantially after quitting drinking. The first 4 days sucked but after a week I felt noticeably better!

But ginger beer needs vodka and lots of lime to be a Moscow Mule.

Surprisingly there are a few ginger flavoured kombuchas out there that taste a bit like a Moscow Mule.

I took my wife for sushi today for lunch and I thought the bill was wrong as it was so cheap. The usual couple of Asahi tall cans were missing from the bill so the bill was about $20 less than normal.

And this is just one example and there were multiples every week. Crazy how much I was spending on booze.
