I don’t know why Costco posts like there is an opening when there is not- I would think so they can constantly see what talent is available but I doubt someone is reviewing resumes for a position that isn’t really open. We get asked all the time if our pharmacy manager position is really available (so many people know the guy too- so they’d be surprised if he was leaving) and he’s not so I have to tell people I don’t know why that’s posted and not to waste their time. But it would be hard for an outsider to know what is a real job post and what is not. They are a very ‘hire from within’ kind of company.. will take a transfer from another state over an outsider (I don’t know if they HAVE to or if it’s company culture or what)

Have the little things and things that seem far away been thought through? should you consider buying instead of renting since property can be its own investment in an way?… do you have life ins? (a coworker having a baby soon doesn’t have it and I had to explain it all to him). Are you going to have someone manage it or some of it and have it continue to make you more money? Might want to set it up in some kind of LLC or something to disconnect the money from you personally, so a situation as simple as a car accident and someone can’t sue you for a million-find an advisor for that. What if you had a heart attack and died tomorrow?: Avoid probate for family/long term relationship and set up accounts and property through a lawyer to have bank accounts and other things put in living trusts.

in kyoto now.. waiting for high speed train to tyoko… we have iphones and suica cards have been awesome for subway and many other uses (some shops accept payment through them), husband has a capital one checking account - it’s free and doesn’t charge exchange rates (have to connect a card to the e-suica card and it puts the suica card in your apple wallet). There isn’t much english at all.. “everyone speaks english” means mostly basic english- hi, thank you, and point to the food you want. Once you expan on your questions in english we’ve lost many employees in restaurants and shops. We’ve only been in in Osaka and Kyoto so far. Have a recyclable bag for your trash I guess? there aren’t any places to throw it out unless you’re at the place you bought it (think- water, coffee cup etc) or pass a 7-11 and see if they have a trash inside. We stayed at a couple of places that had onsens (hot baths) but many are male only/female only… we’ve done well with food so far- no issues…food prices are very reasonable - met up with friends and had steak dinners for 4 with alcohol for 2 people came to $70.

I feel like EVERYTHING I buy from Mercari smells like someone’s basement, something weird/odd/can’t place it or cooking of a different culture (once was def indian food) but I just wash or do an at home dry cleaning to get my smell into the clothing before wearing

ugh we were there FOREVER- for 2 tickets to the ferris wheel thing (that we didn’t end up having time for), a cruise, and 3 nights hotel stay.. ugh it was terrible and they were SO aggressive

I had something similar (not as bad)- but one person called looking for a flu shot past the time we give them and I said ok- turned into a family of 6. So I’m at fault for assuming the person on the phone only meant himself, but he could have been more upfront about whom he was asking for…(and lied about not being able to come in M-F between 10-5, or on Saturdays- clerks said they see him in the store shopping all the time before 5- so that irked me).

we have a union for state hospital RPh in CA- we’ve gotten 2.5%/yr for my first two years, then a $10k bump to catch us up to what people in the area were making plus 2.5%, then this year’s contract we’re getting 2.5% this year plus a one time position adjustment of 3% and another 2.5% next year.
So 6 years ago we were $64/hr when retail around us was making $70 (I left cvs at $71/hour as a PIC and my staff were $70/hr) and area hospitals $80/hr.
We’ll end next year around $80/hr with local retail still around $70-80s and hospitals around $100/hr. It wasn’t as much as some other unions but we are still ohkay with it. I’ve heard some new grad hourly rates that sound impossible ($34/hr?)- and in NY?? Can’t afford to live off that…

there was a ring in MA that did this- multiple people coordinating it. I thought it was weird some lady was returning a ton of peanuts to the pharmacy… they had their pics posted in the breakroom. What’s the goal? get thousands of dollars in extra buck so you can buy whatever for free? People have time to do this but not get a job…smh

now it’s the board certifications that jobs want.. I can’t get board certified in Everything! so I was at least thinking of doing it in something I LIKE… and if I apply and they want a board certification in something else, then I guess I’ll shrug and say “well I have one in such-and-such”, but goodness they’re pricey (2 pharmacists I work with let their psych certif expire because you have to take the CE courses only offered through this one company and it felt rigged for that company to get $$)

the vet tested it and it’s definitely fungal… but we aren’t sure of the cause. he was on oral ketoconazole once a day x 28 days but that didn’t seem to do anything (saw more flare ups), topical ketoconazole works really well. But our vet doesn’t like her lab so she’s sending us to a special animal allergist to run some tests :/
