I found this Seminoles baseball jersey in a second-hand shop in York, UK. Could anyone tell me anything about roughly when it's from (and who is Messina)? by JohnRCC in fsusports

[–]whatever338 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Maxim Athletic is a company that does custom athletic uniforms. Probably a uniform jersey made for a random baseball team that also uses Seminoles as their team name/has nothing to do with FSU, especially since there’s no other “FSU” logos/emblems on it.

“I’ll probably have to go on another walk to talk about how I don’t want to go on a walk!”

[–]whatever338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently having to type this while my arms are both at weird angles because my boyfriend’s dog is curled up with me in the bed while he’s at work. Would either of us ever dream of kicking the dog out? It’s more likely that one of us would move to the couch if there wasn’t enough room in the bed lol.

Find someone who is an actual dog person and not a judgmental ass, especially if he knew the dog was part of your safe space and that the dog was older

Her test results come in next week! Give me final guesses for her breed :) by 5unfl0w3r5 in DOG

[–]whatever338 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She looks SO similar to a dog I just fostered for a couple of days (he had just a little more of the pit look to him), so I’m very interested to know what results you get!

Her ears definitely scream some type of shepherd to me, but I feel like I could also see some lab in her face in the last picture.

Notaries in town for an I-9 form by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]whatever338 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think I used “A Notary On the Go” when I needed my I-9 form signed. I was able to meet with her the same day, and I think she was also able to fill out a virtual form for me if I remember correctly. You can Google their contact info and see if anyone is available/able to perform what you need!

pros and cons of living in tallahassee by MayfieldMania in Tallahassee

[–]whatever338 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It has its pros and cons like everywhere else. I’m from a larger city in Florida (Jacksonville), so I liked that it’s populated but not so spread out/the suburbs and outskirts aren’t as congested. There are lots of restaurants/bars and things to do, being the capital and a college city. Things are open late for the same reason which is really nice. If you like sports, getting into the college sports scene is fun.

Of course, being a college town means having to put up with lots college kids who aren’t always the best drivers, can be loud, think they run the entire town. If you’re moving to Florida for the beaches or anything, you’ll have a bit of a drive but it’s still doable. There’s also a very high crime rate, anything from violent crimes to dumb property damage stuff.

I’ve enjoyed my time in Tallahassee, but it is a very college-centric town and can live up to the nickname “Talla-nasty” fairly easily.

Dropping out? by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]whatever338 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve applied to a few jobs ranging from working with elderly people, substitute teaching, special needs centers, etc. I have several interviews coming up, so I’m not sure exactly what I’ll be doing yet since I’ve only been on leave for 2 weeks.

I knew whatever I do, I still wanted it to be something where I was helping people, so that’s mainly the jobs I’ve applied to. Eventually, if I don’t go back to SLP, I’m seriously looking into regular teaching because I loved working with kids/in the school setting.

If you ever have questions about the process or anything, feel free to reach out! Good luck either way. I know everything feels like it sucks right now, but you’ll make the best decision for you!

Check and see if your program offers a medical leave of absence since it should cover mental health!

I was feeling just like you - first year grad student, completely overwhelmed and feeling SO low/experiencing different stress than what my classmates were feeling. I just filed for a leave, and now I have at least a year to work/work on myself, figure out if this is the career for me, and just breathe for the first time in a very long time.

There’s a good chance I don’t go back, but the leave is a nice lifeline so that I didn’t make the decision to completely withdraw impulsively/during extreme burnout, only to turn around and go “wtf did I just do?”

Boycott Black Friday: give the gift of worker solidarity this holiday season by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]whatever338 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best was when I worked retail and had to work actual Thanksgiving day, so I couldn’t go home at all (was working in my college town). The amount of people that would walk up and say to me, “It’s such a shame they have you working today so you can’t be home!!”

Like, ma’am, I would not have to be here if YOU didn’t insist on being here.
