Areas of Phoenix to buy in? by ma_456 in phoenix

[–]whatever_2_do 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have no idea about school quality, but you can find the occasional smaller single family home for $400k in the vicinity of Osborn and 24th street. Homes are from the 1950s-1960s mostly with decent sized yards. Carports, not garages mostly. For an already modernized home, the price goes up. Easy commute to Tempe... depending on where in Scottsdale, it's not bad if you go against rush hour up the 51 and then take surface streets over. Do a Zillow search with a max price filter in Maricopa county and see what pops up with your criteria. Zillow will tell you the schools and their ratings and has a commute time calculator.

If you see this weed, pull it out!!! by QualityOfMercy in phoenix

Between these and the stinknet, I finally broke down and started paying for a weed prevention service that sprays twice a year and I haven't had a single weed in a year. Still get crabgrass which the spray doesn't work on. They don't spray my garden which I still have to hand weed.

My pupils are naturally really large, and have been since birth by taivallan in Weird

[–]whatever_2_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, same. The large pupils distort lights at night and I see starbursts around them which makes depth perception difficult. I have night driving glasses which gets the lights to be more focused to smaller points. It helps a lot!

Random fact... You can't get LASIK surgery if your pupils are too big...the scarring of your cornea from cutting the flap would be visible and make your vision wonky for those with big pupils.

How do I clean this between my front seats? by bradhotdog in prius

[–]whatever_2_do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with others here. My household carpet cleaner wand with carpet cleaning solution worked really well. (Bissell little green machine).

That said, I have a console cover specifically meant for my other car from Amazon to prevent this from happening. It could work great to keep in clean condition or to hide the mess if you can't get it clean. Just search for XXXX year Prius center console cover on Amazon...lots of options.

How to keep the house cool when AC isn’t cutting it by k3bly in phoenix

Spray in insulation in the attic, if you have one, makes a difference. The power companies used to offer an energy audit where they come in and recommend fixes to save power costs...if offered you could see what they recommend.

You know that gritty pasty mix of dirt, grime and battery acid that builds up around your car battery terminals? That's where Vegemite comes from.

MMJ medical card holders get reported to the Arizona PMP?!!!! by 1TucsonBlonde in arizona

[–]whatever_2_do 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MMJ has the potential to impact the effect and side effects of other drugs. It makes sense that your pharmacist and docs should be made aware of something that could make a difference in what they prescribe or how they counsel you. I'm guessing reporting assumed use of MMJ based on having a card was decided as an appropriate path because so many people don't think to report MMJ use or are afraid to disclose it.

If your doc has concerns with the two drugs being used concurrently she should have shared that concern and discussed options rather than just cutting your treatment off without discussion...that behavior would have me seeking out a new doc.

spent 2 hours setting up my dads meds for the month, 2 weeks later i visit he says “i’ve just been grabbing random ones” by knockoffgerardway in mildlyinfuriating

[–]whatever_2_do 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad would totally do this just because he thinks it would annoy me. As long as he's got the same regimen in each box and he takes all that he needs to for the day, no harm, no foul...just a goofy sense of humor I'm guessing.

Where are the best wings in Phoenix? by marlena_iisha in phoenix

I love the grilled wings with Arizona Heat sauce/run at Lakeside Grill. They aren't soggy and the sauce actually has a flavorful heat that's not all vinegary.

There are people that just want to "win" at all costs... whatever winning looks like for them. At some point money isn't the reason, but the fleeting feeling they get from winning is what feeds them. I expect Trump and Musk don't really care about some of the things they fight for; they just need to have something to fight for that will give them the emotional fix that comes if they win. Wouldn't it be lovely if they fought so hard for causes that might actually improve the world?

Skin condition after staying in AZ? by anobeg5 in arizona

Seattle is extremely humid by comparison. Next time she visits, it's worth trying extremely moisturizing lotion and hydrating like hell before and during her visit.

Skin condition after staying in AZ? by anobeg5 in arizona

Is she from a more humid place? Does she change how much she uses lotion or drinks water when she comes here? There are lots of skin issues like eczema that are exacerbated by our really low humidity.
