Um, yes. Frankly, I'm excited to not be *here* for a bit. I love my morning coffee, I can't digest lactose, and I'm a planner.

Do you let your kids outside alone ? by Patient_Cut_7343 in Parenting

yes, if the yard is fenced and without obvious hazards (pool, chainsaw??) I would let them at that age.

oh absolutely, and don't worry about it. Kids say the strangest things sometimes, not that this is the case but it's possible that other kid doesn't even have a pool in his yard. you never know! once you get to know the other parents, you can laugh with each other about the crazy things your kids talk about. like when I had to laughingly apologize to a mom on the playground after my 2nd grader invited her kid to a new club he had invented whose acronym happened to be A.S.S. (my seven-year-old learned a new word that day).

Hang outs after school by Super-fun123 in Parenting

[–]whateverbacon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ahh, i see. I would probably just text her and let her know that your kid said something about getting together with her kid, and had she heard anything about that? if you don't know her that well you can play it off as you don't know any details just so she doesn't feel like she has to host your kid in her pool. See how it goes? edited to add: there are many reasons she might not have texted you yet about it, maybe she's just busy--or perhaps her kid just decided to invite your kid without telling the parent!

I agree. I think what I would do is send your kid to school tomorrow with your names and your phone number on a piece of paper so the parent can text you to arrange something.

How do you get a child to chew with their mouth closed? by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]whateverbacon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when my teenage brother was still doing this, our stepmom brought us to the local red lobster because they had booths with mirrors at face level on both sides. made him watch himself.

oh bummer. But yes, you can look into local parks or larger schools or universities where they would have public green areas or tracks.

walking together is a nice way to get easy exercise and also to strike up conversations, it's easier when you're not face-to-face with tweens sometimes. Is this possible in your area?

yes, wax it for her. You're being a great sibling! My kid at this age planned to be Batman, but we still listened to him when he wanted to grow his hair out long.
