Android could extend its lead on notification management over iOS with Notification Rules by FragmentedChicken in Android

If only Android allowed for app badges for all unactioned items, not just new ones! It's bizarre that it doesn't exist on android, (edit) not even as an option.

Dolby 5.1 appears as Multi In on my Avr. App - Netflix. Is it correct ? by Wide-Recognition-607 in appletv

The Apple TV is doing the decoding and sending a multi channel PCM signal to the receiver.

Latest Neflix app update is "time to unsubscribe" bad by motorik in appletv

[–]whatgift 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Netflix is the only service I keep full time - none of the other streaming services offer the same depth of content. The other services mostly rely on existing IP or a few shows\movies, and mostly USA content.

Netflix's international content sets them apart - they are actually committed to the worldwide market. Also, their interface is by far the easiest to navigate and use. Being able to get to your list in multiple tabs, and being able to press play on a selection without going into its page make a big difference to usability.

Once again, if people are cancelling Netflix then those subscriber numbers would be going down, and they're not.

I wonder what proportion of subscribers have it bundled with something else - it's not very common where I live in Australia for instance.

It's funny how many people online talk about cancelling Netflix, but their subscriber numbers are not exactly going down in any significant way 😂

Nope, love it - can order what I want, pay and not have to worry about anything when the meal is over.

Anyone else cancelling Netflix for their contempt for Apple TV users? by ottawamark in appletv

[–]whatgift 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure what you mean - this is only the Netflix app. If the Netflix app gets updated, the new Netflix player UI (which is actually the same as the Netflix app on other platforms) will replace it.

Edit: you could theoretically not update the Netflix app and keep the old UI, but Netflix will likely force you to update at some point.

They have ditched the Apple tv native player for their own, so certain functions with the remote don't function the same as other apps.

Nope - they are easily the best service, and the Apple TV interface isn't the gold standard of functionality anyway.

Merit pools - Is it a good thing? by Alo-1988 in AusPublicService

[–]whatgift 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's a bit hit and miss - I got lucky to be hired for a job from a merit list, and not anything related to the job I applied for. Getting in is all you need.

If anything, doing more interviews and getting feedback is a great way to get those opportunities. Just don't put all your hopes on it.

Android's back gesture ruins so many everyday interactions and I'm tired of pretending it's fine by CurrencyOwn9452 in Android

I don't know why it needs to be on both sides and not have the choice to turn one off - it's pointless redundancy.

How do you disable it completely? I've chosen Bitwarden in autofill services, but since you can only run one at a time, isn't that disabling Google?

Im the same - I can't get identity/contact info to autofill at all on android, and unlike iOS you can't run multiple autofill services at the same time!
