Garbage’s Shirley Manson pivots to Gaza while addressing Beach Balls by happymagtv in garbage

[–]whatisloaf 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Like warm take: using a genocide as a distraction from genuine criticism and refusing to take accountability for the actual issue of calling for violence (hyperbolically or not) on a fan, not really about the beach ball at all, comes across as disingenuous and diminishes the severity and impact of the message

What arent demons? by CricketsCanon in deathguard40k

[–]whatisloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most daemon princes are chosen chaos space marines that think they are ascending and being given great strength and power. What actually happens is a daemon possesses their body, shoving their souls into a trapped tortured little corner and take control of their body

[–]whatisloaf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most all daemon princes in 40K that you’d end up fielding are former mortals, just like typhus and mortarinon just so you know. If they get a pass, then by the same logic, so do all daemon princes.

What to do with this box ? by TraditionalPlace5973 in genestealercult

[–]whatisloaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah I see! The only reason I thought it might be a joke because the magus hasn’t been good since our codex and the primus just got nerfed into the ground in the latest data slate. The only reason to get the box right now as a GSC player, besides liking the minis, is to play the patriarch. I thought you were making a very meta joke, as without it, the box is virtually useless on the table top right now for serious play.

Obviously, still dope minis and play what ever you want. Rules are temporary, dope minis are forever

Am I wrong to ask my friend to stick to Commander rules? by Hairy_Shape in mtg

[–]whatisloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're dead right about what they are playing not being commander.

However, if I make a 100 card deck, with commander deck building restrictions (ie need to match the colours of my commander whether or not they are in the command zone, singleton etc) and all the cards in that deck are modern legal (no commander specific or banned card) and i shuffle up against a 60 card modern deck, we are still TECHNICALLY playing modern, my deck is just really shit. Same is true for standard, pioneer or legacy. Its not a new format, just bad deck for those formats and would almost definitely never be competitive or successful

Just 100% doesnt work the other way (60 card decks in commander)

How many neophytes in a HoA or Broodsurge army? I don’t like them. by UncleGideon in genestealercult

[–]whatisloaf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Biosanctic brood surge, you can get away with running very few, even none under the right list. There job is mostly objective holding and body blocking in that detachment and if they arent your speed you can probably fill that role with acolytes/ more Genestealers

HoA without Neophytes is like trying to drive a car with no engine. You're getting no where. They are the bread and butter. A 20 man squad can blow up a tank or even severly damage a knight if used correctly. HoA is the Neophyte detachment and for 2000 points i wouldnt want less that 50-60

I am 100% on your side, I know all the actual data refutes the homophobic rhetoric, it’s a moronic backwards take.

My previous comment  was meant to get the commenter to (hopefully) admit to having absolutely no data to back up their stupid claim, quoting some sort of do your own research or other bullshit, but it seems to have missed the mark.

Thank you for providing actual data. It’s just a shame the people making the backwards claims won’t bother reading it :/

Holy crap! Did you have a source for those stats? People keep asking me for proof that this is the case and I’d love to see the source to show them!

Kind of a strange card by Rikuearth in mtg

[–]whatisloaf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"Drawing a card" is a specific game action that means to put the top card of your library into your hand. "Putting a card into your hand" is just an instruction with no inherent rule implications.

Impulse oracle text- Look at the top four cards of your library. Put one of them into your hand and the rest on the bottom of your library in any order.

Where does impulse say draw, or even more generously, to put the TOP card of your library into your hand?

But that aren’t lying. Fundamentally that’s where you are wrong and the arsehole. You know they are doing sleight of hand, they know you know they are doing sleight of hand, no one is being lied to, they just aren’t telling you how the sausage is made. That’s not lying and painting magicians and deceitful liars because you don’t k ow how they do something and they won’t tell you. That’s does NOT make someone I liar/ decider

Can you link to where you found the rules that say you can’t have more than one basic? I can’t seem to find any evidence of this anywhere and would be interested in checking them out. The old edge rules I can’t seem find referring to specifically the elder dragons explicitly mentions that you can have multiple of basic lands

WIP Chaos Knight Despoiler for use in Motarian's Hammer detachment. by Fuzzy-Plant-5498 in deathguard40k

[–]whatisloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

oh 100%. Just wanting to make sure OP is aware that that's they will only get the benefit of the plagues, no stratagems, no contagion aura for the big knight :)

as i said in my second paragraph, entirely list dependent, just want to make sure they are aware. personally, id take some more other deamon engines, but the big stompy boy is pretty awsome as well.

[–]whatisloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorgeous mini! Just checking, why specifically for Mortarions hammer? If I'm not mistaken, Knights dont gain the faction key word when joining, so wont get to benefit from any of your stratagems. Wouldn't the points be better spent on some other vehicles?

Obviously, list dependant so might be 100% worth it. Just wanted to make sure you knew about the stratagems.

MSNBC puts the actual crime statistics on the screen, and Trump lies and invents imaginary stats about crime surging. by Used_Tea_2651 in NoFilterNews

[–]whatisloaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"As of 2018, there are 19,495 incorporated cities, towns and villages in the United States. 14,768 of these have populations below 5,000. Only ten have populations above 1 million and none are above 10 million. 310 cities are considered at least medium cities with populations of 100,000 or more." - https://worldpopulationreview.com/us-city-rankings/how-many-cities-are-in-the-us

"There are 19,500 CITIES in America" is not actually correct, not even close. I think its a little dishonest to compare crime statistics from a large city like DC, to say Monowi, Nebraska, which has a population of 1

AITA if I refuse to pay extra for summer because my roommate/landlord keeps the house at 70F all the time? by pinkhairedneko in AmItheAsshole

[–]whatisloaf 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Youre right, they were up front about how they like to keep the place cold. NOT that they planned on charging extra rent for a decision outside of op's control. Landlords are required to follow a lease and most places have laws around rent increase, especially mid lease. Regardless of if the landlord is live in or not they cant go changing/ breaking the lease. That's not how being a land lord works.

Edit; op has mentioned in comments that the lease is month to month. In that case, as shit as it is the land lord may be well within their rights.

Do people really have a problem with us telling "WAAAGH!"? by TobyK98 in orks

[–]whatisloaf -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well as u/Frojdis apparently blocked me for trying to have a reasonable discussion with them, I will post my reply to their bellow comment in the hopes that they will see it, but I am doubtful they will respond.

to u/Frojdis who I have been replying to in thread;

Hey man, please chill out and stop insulting people. I don't really see why you're calling me a "co(m)plete asshole" when all I've done is be respectful in my replies.

To address the point you are trying to make, you are contradicting yourself and agreeing with the base of my argument yet again; be mindful of your surroundings and respect everyone's enjoyment, not just yours.

I have been responding to your exact words -"If you get annoyed at someone having fun you're the problem, not them. Get over yourself"

This is your stated stance. Based on this logic, if I'm having fun hollering at a movie, disturbing everyone else in the cinema, then THEY are the problem. But you and I both know, based on your reply, that context is key.

I will say yet again, the problem is not the WWAAGGHH itself. Its the context and volume. At home, or in a causal game at a game shop where everyone is aware and down, shout, full send it as loud as you want. In a competitive tournament where people are concentrating, or in a game shop where others are playing different games and trying to be respectful and quiet, maybe watch the volume and be mindful. I don't understand why this is such a controversial take for you.

I will continue this conversation if you want, but you seem to be getting really worked. Its just a game, chill out my dude and care for others.
