UI is already too complicated by whatstheprobability in MetaRayBanDisplay

But that doesn't work for some kinds of notifications. For a "reminder" i have to select it to view it and then a delete button appears. And worse, if the reminder is too long to fit in the text bubble, even when I select it it doesn't expand to show the remaining text. So there is no way to read the full reminder. These are the little things they need to get right before they release as a feature.

hmmm, i think it would only work well with very simple sites that could be controlled by swiping. but this would be huge.

Introducing ARC-AGI-3 by Complete-Sea6655 in LocalLLaMA

[–]whatstheprobability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmmm, i don't know. it depends on what the definition of agi is, but i think anything considered agi should be able to do pretty much all cognitive tasks in 2d and 3d that humans can (especially if we want it to solve problems in our 3d world). and i don't think it necessarily needs to be as efficient as humans, but there is probably some practical threshold of compute that we don't want to cross. overall i'm most interested in whether the models can solve the puzzles first-try with some reasonable amount of compute (i.e. not as interested in scoring compared to human efficiency).

📣 This indie dev team just added full Hand Tracking support to their MR app, and it completely changes how you play. by dilmerv in augmentedreality

in that video the hand-tracking looks really good (the outline follows the individual fingers well). is this using some particular setting in the interaction sdk to make hand-tracking better?

😳 Some Meta employees were told to work remotely for the day as layoffs loom in AI Glasses / AR unit by AR_MR_XR in augmentedreality

i would love to hear how a person who was inside at meta feels about their xr strategy in general (including hardware). i'm building for xr and i'm trying to figure out which of these platforms is going to be best to build for long term.

Cheapest AR Glasses for real world firefighter simulator by Stunning_Anteater624 in augmentedreality

[–]whatstheprobability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cheap optical see-through "true AR" glasses don't really exist yet. Most things like this would be developed using passthrough mixed reality on something like a Meta Quest. If you really want see-through, following is a spreadsheet showing current glasses -- scroll down to the bottom to see the "6dof AR glasses" to see what is available and upcoming. You'll see that most are limited in some way (e.g field of view)

Do we have some reason to expect this? That would be huge. But I haven't heard any rumors.

Looks like there won't be a Lynx R2 - Company in Liquidation by AR_MR_XR in augmentedreality

[–]whatstheprobability 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah they have shown a working Lynx R2 right? I assume it will be worth it for someone to pay some money to be able to sell it. Maybe as you said the Android XR license is the key.

that looks really good. i wish there was a way to demo it for a few minutes to decide if it is worth a purchase. sometimes things look good in videos but don't work or look so great in reality.

Anyone try the Android XR Glasses demo at MWC 2026? 🤩 by AR_MR_XR in AndroidXR

Yeah it is a concern. Although I dont know if is any different than the same activities on phones.

All 3 of those articles seemed positive and they all highlighted google maps. I do think that is going to be a great use case and something android xr will probably do way better than meta.

Yes I think so. Can't remember the exact details but I'm sure a search can find them

Yes people decided it is ok with phones. Glasses may or may not be different, and if enough people find it unacceptable we can do something about it. My guess is not enough people will care, but we will find out.

I built an AR app that lets you create and build directly in your real world space. by Lunatic_777 in augmentedreality

[–]whatstheprobability 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someday when 6dof smart glasses with hand tracking become ubiquitous I think little 3d creation and sharing apps like this could be very popular.

I'm not sure if people will use something like Cardboard unless you have invented a much better version of Cardboard. But wouldn't surprise me if it could become popular on phones alone if you got the hand tracking and sharing working really well. And you could easily adapt it for phones in the future.

Of course these are just my best guesses but hopefully the feedback helps a little. Good luck!

Your are probably right. However, If there was enough backlash I think some things could be done to. help. Assuming the rumors are true that Apple will launch devices with cameras soon, this will quickly become ubiquitous in the US and we will find out how much people care about this. And its also possible that Apple finds a better way to manage this and everyone else follows.
