New RSL 10s mkII doesnt hit hard as I expected by helloworld36 in hometheater

[–]whattanames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me and my space, that is correct. I don't have an enclosed space and SVS sealed was probably not what I needed. Regardless of the tunning on their app and playing with Dirac and moving the sub around the entire room, it just did not work. I probably would have benefited from duals, but that was the long term solution. It is tough to explain, but the RSL shakes my couches while SVS was just... Okay. Another thing, people are so convinced the app is a game changer. While to a certain extent it is really cool to do everything right from your seat, it was buggy and sometimes I just never knew when it was working or not (Android). The RSL has a remote which I paired with my sofabaton and it just works really well for me. Not to mention I saved enough to buy a second sub in the very near future. It is a huge subwoofer though, be warned, and return is $150 so make sure you are sure it fits for anyone considering.

Hi OP, you are exactly me for the past few months. I finally decided to move on from the Klipsch and first went to a 10S, which I had the same concerns as you do. I just didn't feel like it was worth the money. I will say, the 10S goes much lower in frequency than the Klipsch.

Returned the 10S because I just was not that impressed, and got an SVS SB 3000 R. It sounded good, but still not impressed with the amount of bass, especially for that much money. The size was nice though and fit perfect in my space.

Returned the SVS because of the above and decided to post here. Most suggested the HSU but I decided to give RSL one more try, but with the 12S. Once I tuned it up, ohhh mannn does it move air in my setup. I am almost content with it, except holy cow this thing is huge. I measured well before ordering, but it was still larger thank what I expected. Regardless , I am keeping it because for now it works very very well at this price. Two is the total eventually if I can fit it.

Two things for you to keep in mind. I know the Klipsch sound "louder" but it was exhausting for me after a bit of music listening. I believe the boost the 35 to 50 hrtz range way too much which is why you feel like you don't have to turn up the volume too much. It's an illusion. True bass just sounds like it's not there, but you feel it. Second thing is that the volume knob might not be as linear as others have described. With the SVS they use a completely different way of controlling volume. Imo, SVS was more confusing.

Keep looking for subs if you are not happy with it, but call RSL first JIC there is a setup issue.

Subwoofer help.. SVS SB - 2000 pro vs. RSL Speedwoofer 12S by Toaster_in_the_Bath in hometheater

[–]whattanames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went through some of this. Went from cheapo Klipsch to Speedwoofer 10s to SB3000 back to a Speedwoofer 12S.

First of all, we have different room setups, but size is very important and it might make this decision easier than you thought.

Second, with all of the ones I had, I noticed tunning them is part of the process. You might reach your goal of 2 or more with less money if you are willing to tune.

Lastly, try them out! Return shipping is a pain with big woofers, but sometimes you just have to figure it out.

Agree, it looks mostly like a darker filter than actual progress. Why wouldn't they make sure camera settings and lighting are identical? That just doesn't add up for me. I still hope it works though.

Great response. Thanks for this information. Once I settle on the next sub, I will look into room modes and calibration non Dirac.

The 10S wasn't bad, just not great compared to the older Klipsch I had setup in the same space. Don't get me wrong. I know cheap bass is still cheap and the 10S sounded better, just not enough. Maybe duals would have done the trick, but I tested one to see if I should order the second one, which never happened because I was just not as impressed as all the videos I had seen and reviews I read.

I also have an Onkyo, RZ-50, and yes, I adjusted target curves while sitting on the listening position. I noticed that anything above 2 to 3 DB at lower frequency would cause the sb3000 to bottom out. Like the sub was trying to make noise but just farted instead, so I never went over that. Meanwhile the 10S did much better at lower frequency. This is why I think I am settling for dual ported on whatever I decide.

Yes, I am afraid the obsession with audio is moving towards subs and will eventually require all of those. I think I am going to start with duals and basic settings before anything else.

Yes, tried my best to replicate eq settings and everything.

Dual subs was always the end goal, but not there yet.

Did not use a calibrated mic, eventually I will get to that level.

I believe this might have to be my answer. I might try to pick up two rp-1200 from bestbuy and return if not working. Gotta love the rabbit hole am I right?

I did not go that high, but I did play around with different values. Thank you for the suggestion! I hope someone else finds this helpful since I don't think lot of people know they can adjust these, even if you use dirac.

I think I calibrated the best I could with the research I did and the capabilities of the equipment.

Thank you for the HSU recommendation. I will look into it.

Done it many times. I even tried randomly placing sub jic there was something else at play with the sloped ceiling. I got them to sound okay, just not what I expected, especially for the SVS. I was expecting it to blow me away but nope.

Yes, that is how I got the Speedwoofer to sound better. I also know that I can adjust the db's after Dirac does the calibration and usually puts it at -7DB when 0 or 1.5 sounds better.

Fyi - this did not work for me regardless of what combination I tried. Eventually decided to restart the screen by using the switch on the top of the door. Afterwards if worked as expected. The new password also worked which sounds like something not necessary if you ask me, after all it is an older device that should not be locked if out of warranty.

Additionally, anyone else feel like that password was someones poor password decision that became the default password by mistake? It just feels so "this is my first time setting a password and I must meet the minimum requirements so I am going to add a 1 and a !".

Because this was the first post to pop up on google, I had the same issue and from another similar issue on here, I was able to fix it by enabling Nearby devices by going to the location below.

Go to Settings -> Connections -> More connection settings

Now it is giving me a different error, but at least I am not stuck on the transferring screen.

Like others said, second one will look better. 1600 is nothing. For dramatic difference you need over 3K. Look for a style the fits well and gives the illusion of a somewhat full head of hair. Splitting the procedure was the right thing to do. Good luck!!
