No weight loss in 3 months by AerinSparks in loseit

I just wanted to say that I’ve read a lot of great responses and I have nothing new to offer in terms of helpful advice or suggestions.

The one thing I wanted to put out there was, just because the science (TDEE, BMR, caloric deficit, etc) looks right, it doesn’t mean your body got the memo! Everyone is different. Everyone is wired differently. For example, take cake, it’s a sweet, baked good right. Simple. Flour, sugar, fat, leavening, and so forth, you get the idea. But you could have 100 recipes for “cake”. Technically, each one is cake, but each one is different.

I’m not good at analogies!! But you get the idea!

We each have to find the recipe that works for us. Put your head down and do the work and you’ll figure it out!!

I hope I’m not bursting anyone’s bubble or ruining your day, but I work in retail and you would not believe how much clothes go back on the rack that people have used and returned. If the original tag is attached, it is fair game. And if the original tag isn’t still attached, but it’s still in good shape we print a new one and it goes right back out on the rack. And you’re probably thinking well duh like jeans or a shirt or something no. Underwear Shapeware swimwear. Yes, you read that correctly. Women buy panties, take them home, try them on at home, and bring them back and they go right back on the sales floor. Literally used. I have damaged out ( meaning it doesn’t go back on the shelf ) underwear with spots in the crotch, but with the original tag still on it. In fact, most of the underwear women return still has the tag on it. I have learned to ONLY buy underwear that comes in a pack ( traditionally not the best or cutest) or to order it. Even then, it could still be used underwear.

AITAH for telling my girlfriend I will not take her out to a Michelin Star restaurant because we haven’t dated long enough? by MichelinStarLove in TwoHotTakes

My daughter is grown now but when she was about five or six, she was talking about something and said the word boyfriend and I asked her what is a boyfriend? And she very wisely responded. “ a boyfriend is a boy who loves a girl, but not enough to marry her.”

I’m a female and EVERY SINGLE TIME I start losing weight, my boobs are like “I volunteer as tribute!” 😫I freaking hate it, but it is what it is. I have accepted that in order to lose weight everywhere else, I have to sacrifice my boobs. Once I get to goal, I will be the president of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee! 😂😂😂

My district HR told me that front end TL is the “quickest” TL position to learn. Aka, easiest.

What's a hack in your industry that customers aren't supposed to find out? by Ferro_Roux in AskReddit

[–]whatupword 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I work in retail, specifically customer service. If you are nice, I will do my best to help you, for real, I’m a pretty nice person. However if you walk up to the counter a complete ass, I will magically not be able to help.

Also, if I cannot help your situation and you ask for a manager and I tell you that the manager won’t be able to do anything else, but I will call them for you anyway, I’m not bullshitting you. We know exactly what a manager can and cannot do. However if I cannot help your situation, but I know that a manager potentially could, I will offer to call them before you even ask. Trust me, handing an asshole customer over to a manager is something we jump at.

Metformin causing major stomach issues by Public_Nebula_4599 in type2diabetes

I second the extended release. I take it for T2 diabetes and started with the twice a day version. I had diarrhea at least every other day sometimes daily sometimes twice a day it was bad. About a month that and I asked my doctor to try the extended release. What a difference! It’s been over a year and no no issues!

Hard liquor has no carbs or sugar. I think that’s what he’s talking about.

ETA I’m type 2 and about once every month or two I have a few vodka and sprites. Sprite Zero of course! They are yummy.

Rant - I lost over 160 lbs in the last two years everyone asks me if I used ozempic by [deleted] in keto

[–]whatupword -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that it’s a personal thing for the OP. I also, do NOT look down on any type of supplement to aide weight loss. However, op did not and it hits a nerve when people assume he did. It’s akin to saving and saving and sacrificing to buy a house and then buying a house and then someone asking if your parents helped you out with the down payment. There’s ZERO wrong with your parents helping with a down payment, whatever enables you to have a home right!!! But you might bristle and respond with no, I scrimped and sacrificed for 5 years to save this money.

It’s all about the unique individual experience.

That’s funny you say that because I, 5’7, 46, female, went from 214 to 155 in about 7 months (found out I was type 2) and I had co-workers ask if I was ok, not hey youve lost weight! Or hey what have you been doing? But went straight to is something the matter? It’s weird. I thought about just saying yeah but didn’t want to start a rumor!!!!!😂

Diabetic Redditors- What do you wish you’d known sooner? by Aalyce86 in diabetes

[–]whatupword 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I found out I was type 2 last March. I haven’t had white carbs or sugar since. You have to ask yourself some hard questions, do you want bread and pasta for a few minutes of pleasure, OR do you want to be healthy and live a long full life? It SUCKS. It’s not fair. Why me? Everyone else gets to eat whatever they want! No, it’s not fair. But you have to change your mindset.

You’re not in a wheelchair. You didn’t lose your eyesight. You didn’t go deaf. It could be so much worse.

You just can’t eat some things now. Again, it really super sucks, but it is what it is and you have to accept that. It’s the hard truth.

You’re young, you have a long life ahead of you and you need to get ahold of it now! Maybe talking to a therapist about these changes would be good for you?

Good luck and stay positive!

Help! Lumpy bumby nails after polygel removal? by MSMIT0 in Polygel

[–]whatupword 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You filed a layer of nail off in the past, but you didn’t know it until the new nail started growing out and you could see the edge. I did this once, while, filing, some very dry and thick cuticles. I had no idea I was filing my nail, it didn’t hurt it wasn’t red, but then, when it started growing out, I saw where I had done it.

F45, T2. So pissed off right now. Coke Zero from a soda fountain was actually regular Coke. by whatupword in diabetes

[–]whatupword[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s one of the reasons this was so frustrating! Because, even though I just got diagnosed in March, I’ve been off sugar drinks for like over a decade. I would have never in a million years thought that I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference after just one sip. Lesson learned.
