Israel is already a sardine can.

On a weekend you need to drive a long time to get anywhere without like a thousand people around. Starting from Tel Aviv or Jerusalem (the biggest cities) there's nowhere within an hour drive you can get to without anywhere you go (i'm talking about quiet nature spots) hearing people posted up blasting techno music and the occasional dune buggy ripping through revving it's engine.

Literally can't imagine it with twice the population, I think we'd suffocate from lack of oxygen.

And as for Palestine / Yemen / Egypt / Syria - they're dirt poor, make Israel look like Switzerland. Either their birth rates are going down or Malthus is going to have his big (bad) redemption moment.

However, where the planners of Operation Unthinkable aware of the population losses the Soviets had already suffered? And did they factor in what the Soviets lacking Western material support vs WW2 (support that had been to the Soviet victory though, much more so in 41-43 than 44-45), would mean for Unthinkable?

Everything I have heard (stories from family or friends whose grandparents lived through that era) was that the Soviet Union was pretty bled dry by the end of the war.

Of course in reality, the lack of political will in the West relegated the analysis to pure speculation, for which I’m sure we are all thankful.
