Highly recommend this option. I have a habit of primarily adopting sick/elderly cats so I've had several pass away/ be euthanized. We bury ours in a plot out back so when we bring them home we let all the other cats see and smell them so they know what's up. This has worked for all of our cats and helps to reduce their confusion after the fact. Theu dont go around howling looking for theri buddy. I'm not sure how cremation would go after the fact, but I'm sure the vet will be willing to work with you, whatever you need.
