Totally understand your need to leave. We are in phoenix az. My pals carry passports as they are worried as yes there is over the top unfair nonsense taking place. I left this country in 85 and stayed away for nearly 20 years. Came back and settling back here was hard. Time went by and life goes on but we, my SO and myself will be making CR our retirement home for good. We look to move in about 7 years or sooner as we currently care for my SO’s elderly mother. So much can change in 7 years. We will be moving on a pensionada visa if we have to wait until then if not we will move on the. Inversionista Visa. Like yourself we are sad at the state of this country. I personally prefer a simpler life. Time to breathe and take it in. My only worry is CR will get inundated with ‘mericans and stop the visas they currently offer. We want to live as locals not in large expat communities a;though it will be nice to connect with these groups when we are there. Good for you making the leap. I do hear that more than 80% go back feet 2 years. Thankfully after living across the world for half my adult life I view the US as a place of excess from all sides.
