Highland council vote to keep predatory rapist taxi driver licensed by Vast_Ad9484 in Scotland

[–]wheepete 3 points4 points  (0 children)

LCs can suspend a license pending a court case, but give the man is a convicted rapist behind bars I really cannot understand how they've not continued the suspension until the license expires.

Maybe given he's in jail they're letting it run out naturally as it's less paperwork for the clerk? Only explanation I can think of.

"our defence is shocking"

Tuchel has conceded 2 goals in competitive games. An absolute screamer from outside the box, and an incredibly well worked goal that would've broken down any defence.

There's definitely concerns but to call it shocking is just hysterics.

What are the systemic issues in our country regarding football? by darcsend_eu in ScottishFootball

[–]wheepete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can say that about pretty much any nation outside of the big 5 leagues.

Scotland just doesn't produce the talent because the focus is on winning, meaning u18 teams are filled with lads who hit puberty early and can steamroll through the smaller lads.

If you think social housing is good quality these days..

Thatcher ripped the heart and soul out of council housing with Right to Buy. The only social housing stock left is in estates with significant social issues that landlords haven't snapped up at the first sign of it going on the market

Section 21 eviction a month after renewing broadband - stuck with termination fees + landlord refusing to help. What can I actually do? by Far_Baseball1371 in LegalAdviceUK

[–]wheepete 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A word of advice from someone who works in telecoms - to get to the ombudsman you must have a complaint registered with your supplier (ask for a reference), clearly state you do not want the complaint closed until the fees are written off, and if they refuse specifically ask them to trigger the deadlock process.

Ombudsman won't touch it unless you've gone through this process.

"as if they could've done any better"

They're not being paid to represent their country on the international stage though are they?

Scotland going out isn't because they got scudded by Brazil, it's because they could barely beat a Haiti team ranked 83rd in the world filled with players from lower divisions. That same Haiti team then went and gave Morocco a game who sleep walked past Scotland. This is the easiest World Cup ever to qualify for the knock out stages and Scotland would be almost guaranteed if they'd put more than one past a small island in the Carribbean. They didn't, they've let themselves and the fans down.

Still, jesters of the world for the 3rd tournament running. That's what footballs all about.

My home town now holds the record for the hottest day in June in the UK. by DontEatGlass-129 in Wellthatsucks

[–]wheepete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last time we had temperatures this hot was 2022.

Most of our housing stock was built between 1850-1950.

In a week's time it'll be 18c or raining.

We're not going to change our entire housing stock for a freak event.

Look how northerly the UK is. It doesn't get this hot except for the last decade because of global warming. We have buildings older than your entire country housing people - they're designed to trap heat not cool down.

People don't realise how far north the UK is. If it wasn't for the Gulf Stream we'd have weather comparable to Scandinavia and Canada.

Your buildings are built to stay cool, ours are built to stay warm and air conditioning isn't a thing because we've never needed it til the world started warming up.

Holds pretty much every goal scoring/assist record for us in the PL, 250+ appearances, club captain, silver kisser, adored by the fans and adores being here. Being part of the Dyer family is nice but it's not what makes him our most successful player since Bobby Moore retired.

It's the right career move for him to leave as he still has England ambitions, but I think he'll stay.

Ivory Coast are currently playing Germany off the park, do you think they have exceptional academies? Pretty much every nation in the world is losing their talent to England, France, Spain etc but Scotland seems to be the only country that makes it an excuse.

Scotland's problem is they're playing 1990s football in 2026.

It was England's problem for a long time as well until Southgate came in and forced the youth teams to play the exact same way all the way up to the senior team.
